    White persians show preparation

Could the breeders with white show persians tell me what shampoo, rinses and conditioners you find best for preparing your cats for show? I know the various products are not available all over the world, but would love to find out what successes you have had with products.

    "Nortie tortie"

Why is it that torties often have this "unruly" nature? I have been told by many breeders that my tortie girl is quite normal for a tortie, but she can be quite a handful! Her gran was also a tortie and was also quite a feisty cat. Is this feisty trait somehow linked to colour inheritence?

    Diatomaceous earth

I have just read in a Hamlyn book that "in the USA, diatomaceous earth is popular as a flea treatment" and directions are given on dusting bedding, carpets etc. and the cat's fur with it. In thirty years of owning cats and dogs, I have never heard this before! Does this really work?

    Bay rum lotion

I have read that people use bay run or bay rum lotion on cats with darker fur when grooming them. I have never seen a reference to this in a local publication and wondered what this product is. I use powder and fuller's earth when grooming my persians, but the light colour does affect their coat...

    Breeding frequency

How frequently are queens allowed to breed? I know I am considered conservative by only breeding my persian queen every 14 months, approximately. What is considered to be the safe norm? I know a lot would depend on health etc., but for a perfectly healthy queen, what do other breeders do?

Patty, I cannot thank you enough for that glop recipe as it has now come in handy for my month-old kitten. Stud age

I have never owned a stud cat before. I have always taken my queens along to a breeder for mating with one of her studs. I have now been offered the stud cat that has mated twice with my one queen. He is nine years old. Can anyone advise on how long stud cats are active for? This is a new...

    Weight loss

Hope someone can give some advice. I have a red persian queen who loses weight drastically whenever she is feeding kittens. I know that it is normal and that some books even mention a weight loss average of 6 grams per kitten being fed per day! Although her appetite is good and her main food is...
