I am hoping my cats would like this but no ..
Wellness Canned Cat Food Dinners - Various flavors
Pros: Trustworthy brand, Grain free, perservative free, blah blah blah free
Cons: Guar gum, Carragean
I have been very focused on buying my cat the "healthiest" of foods for her own well being hopping she would learn stop turning her nose up at it. Well it isn't going to happen. I finally woke up and realized she hated the stuff I was buying. Every day her 3 dollar canned food and her raw (Natures variety) would sit there uneaten forever. I began to pop it back in the fridge after 20 minutes to keep it fresh only later to present it again to a hungry cat who took one sniff and walked away. It became a battle of wills.
I cannot afford to toss uneaten food but I could tell my cat Whitney was not enjoying her meals. I have been unable to get her on a twice a day schedule because of the food rejection. I had to change my way of thinking and incorporate more foods. Even if that meant including those with less stellar ingredients.
Wellness- a brand I do trust- was on sale at my pet food store and I purchased a few cans. While I try to avoid Carragean and Guar Gum I thought what the heck! It is only two cans. Well my baby loves this stuff and gobbles 1/2 a can in 10 minutes. I don't even have to worry about any ants getting to the leftovers as there is none and this makes a twice a day feeding schedule doable.
The amount of Protein is adequate-there are 2 main sources of protein- Eggs and Turkey, and is short a lot of the things I don't like, like grain, preservatives and artificial stuff. I also think the chunky cubes are something she likes. As the previous reviewer points out this would probably be a great transitional food for kibble addicts due to the shape and texture of the nibbles.
Pros: Grain free, my cats loved it, cat with sensitive stomach kept it down
Cons: The carrageenan is a big no-no for me personally
I recently bought a bunch of Wellness products because my pet store was out of my normal options. This one was the cats' and my favorite out of all the Wellness we tried. The boys love chicken, so it's great that they ate something grain-free.
The carrageenan is a big no for me though because it can cause some types of cancer.
Pros: 100% Grain Free, No Wheat, Meat By-Products, or Artificial Colors, Flavors or Preservatives, Single Protein Source (Turkey)
Cons: Carrageenan, Guar Gum
Ziggys favorite brand is Wellness and her favorite flavor is Turkey so it was just a match made in kitty heaven for her to have this combo! I love that its Grain Free and that the 3 oz cans are a convenient serving size. Wellness doesn't like to use Meat By-Products, or Artificial Colors, Flavors or Preservatives which makes me happy. My cat loves Wellness &I love that its so good for her. If your cat loves kibble &your trying to convert him over to eating only wet or mostly wet I suggest starting with canned wet food that looks similar to kibble. Such as this one! Any cubed, shreds and minced (etc.) I highly suggest this as a great starting point for those of you wanting to start on grain free caned, especially for a kibble addict!
