Pros: Used gently it will remove soft, downey undercoat and comb out small knotted areas.
Cons: Harsh metal bristles can easily hurt the cat, and it does not remove guard hairs effectively.
This brush uses a flat bed of tightly packed metal bristles to catch hairs and pull to remove them from the coat - rather like carding natural wool. The bristles are quite sharp and will be painful if pulled close to the skin, or if drawn harshly through fur and any knots present. It effectively lifted out the dead downy textured undercoat from my short to medium haired tabby cats but had little impact on the guard hair. Great care needed if any knots present as you could really hurt a cat grooming too vigorously with this.
