Pros: Handle's sturdy, has two doors (front and top)

Cons: Hinge snapped off easily

I purchased this to take my first cat home. It served me well with vet visits.. the handle was comfortable to hold, and the top door was extremely helpful when it came to the vet.. my cat is a terror and top loading made it easier to get him out of the carrier.

However, after several uses, the hinge on the top door broke off and i was unable to fix it. I've since donated the carrier to the vet who could use it for parts.

Pros: Top opens

Cons: A bit heavy

Not sure if I have the medium size or large size. I bought it because I have a cat who is fat. But I really love the top opening on this carrier. It is convenient for prying cats out who do not want to be at the vet. Or anywhere else. I've used it multiple times and it still looks nice. my friends comment on oh what a nice carrier you have. I think it's better than the ones that open from the middle folding out. Although I've never had one of those, I did watch a video on them and I wasn't impressed especially for the money.

Pros: Easy to put feral/shy/fearful kittens in and out, roomy, well made!

I LOVE THIS CARRIER. I already had 4 cat carriers that I used for my small rescue, but I began searching for one that opened on the top that I could use for feral/shy cats and I found this one! It is great! I got the large size which is good for every cat that I have used it for, it also will fit several small kittens in it which is nice! Overall, this is now my go to carrier!

Pros: Opens from top and end, secure

Cons: Neither size is great for cats

I have 3 of the previous models of this carrier and LOVE them.  Those are no longer manufactured, so I got the replacement.  I'm disappointed at the size.  They now only make 2 sizes.  The smaller size is ideal for young kittens, but it's terrible for an adult cat, unless the cat is very petite and doesn't weigh too much.  The larger size is huge and very roomy, however.  It would work for a large adult cat.  Unfortunately, there is now no size in between, which would be perfect for the average cat.

Pros: My cat feels secure, it is spacious, and the fleece lining you can get at PetSmart fits it perfectly.

Cons: Hinges seem slightly questionable for fat cats

I love this carrier. I love how comfy my cat looks in it, I love the size of it, and I love how secure I feel traveling in the car with my cat in it! My cat actually loves this carrier so much that he will choose to go in it by himself. I highly suggest :)

Pros: great for the car.

Cons: a bit heavy

I got this carrier to replace the soft sided one which I had used a few times. I prefer the hard sided carriers. At first, it was impossible to get my guy into the carrier.

For some reason, this carrier seems so much easier.

I really do like having the top door, in addition to the front door. The top door makes it easier to get my guy out when he hides.

I keep the carrier out at all times. My guy, who is a very long slender cat, loves it! It is his hiding spot when he does not want to be bothered.

I would definitely recommend this product. I like the way the top handle is placed. I can easily slide the car seatbelt through it, making me feel much safer to be in the car with my guy

Pros: It light until cat gets in lol

Cons: My cat princess gets out off it

Good carrier for kittens as my oldest cat princess knows how to get out. Its hard to close up and make sercure.

Pros: Airy, has door for top loading

Cons: Feels off-balance while I'm carrying the cat in it, price not cheap

I bought one of these carriers because of the good reviews, and was pleased enough to buy a second one when I adopted another cat. We have

them both outfitted with this fake sheepskin:

which the cats seem to love.

We leave the carriers around with the doors open, and the cats like to go in for a nap. They will also try to get in while at the vet.

I liked the idea of a top loading door, but have never had to use it, because the cats go in so readily.

What I don't like is actually carrying a cat in it for any distance, because the total weight is a lot for me and the load does not seem to balance right. But any carrier may be like that.

Pros: Top door much easier to get cat out than front door, generous size, easy to clean.

Cons: Don't trust the handle on top door configuration entirely, it could be better designed, and a bit heavy.

I have only had two types of cat carriers. This one and this Suncast one. I prefer this Petmate model. It is a bit more generously sized, and the top door comes in handy at the vet. The plastic handle is attached to the top door which is held closed by an extension of the wire bars that slips into slots with a spring mechanism, much like most carriers front doors. I don't really trust this long term, and some people have actually had a part of the top door or handle break. It just feels a little flimsy. So when I carry it, I barely pick it up off the ground, just in case something breaks. That is easy to do though when you are only 5'4"! That being said I have carried my one 16lb cat in it without it breaking!

These are pretty roomy, even for the 16lb kitty. I wanted carriers that were sturdy, claw proof, and well-sized for their comfort just in case I ever had to keep them in there for a while during an emergency. These are definitely not the type of carrier you would want to schlep around if your cat travels with you a lot and you have to carry it long distances. They are pretty heavy and the width of them pulls your arms quite far away from your body, which is not too comfortable.

As someone else said already. If these had wheels or a long handle/strap to pull instead of having to carry them they would be perfect. If someone would also come up with carriers that interlocked and several could be latched together and then wheeled like a hand truck...that would be awesome! I think that might push it well over the $35 mark though. For $35, these are pretty good.
