Pros: Grain free and limitited ingredients

Cons: Carbs?

At the present time, I have a cat suffering with diarrhea. Vet checks have shown nothing thus far.

I decided to change his food to this type of diet to try and determine if his problem is allergy related. He has only been on this diet one day, so I really can't say if it will work for him. He has eaten two meals with it mixed with his old food. His poops are firming up with no drippy stuff in the litter box or on the floor. He eats it well and seems to like the taste. I am using the duck and pea formula. I like the fact it is grain free.

Pros: limited Ingredients for food allergies, grain free, no byproducts, no artificial flavors/colors/preservatives

Cons: high in carbs?

After Rocky was diagnosed with food allergies, our vet recommended this food. We've been using it for over a year now, and he's been doing great! He gets 1/2 a cup of the Duck and Pea flavor, and a quarter of the Venison and Pea wet food every day. It's available at our local pet store, and a big bag of it will last us a long time.

I've heard from some that this dry food is high in carbs and lower in protein, so you might want to take that into account. Personally though, Rocky's been doing just fine on this food. The ingredient list is good too, it seems like it has duck and duck meal rather than icky byproducts.

Rocky really likes the taste too, in fact some times a few pieces of kibble can be used as a treat for him. Our other cat, Bijou, also approves of the taste as she's always trying to steal some of his food!

Overall, it was effective for Rocky's food allergies, contains good ingredients, and the cats enjoy the taste.

Pros: Limited ingredients, grain free

Cons: Canola oil, cats don't care for it so far

On another thread I was considering which type of dry food to give my carb addicted kitties to help wean them off of it altogether.  I went with Natural Balance because of the price and most of the ingredients in the list.  I hedged when I saw it contained canola oil.  That is definitely not a good fat to use and it's the 5th ingredient listed.  Nevertheless, it's better on the whole than what they were getting which was Purina Beyond which, while grain free, was certainly NOT low carb.  My alpha kitty Oreo literally hogs the dry food bowl and it shows.  I'd like him to lose his carb addiction altogether, and at least 5 pounds, while giving him that crunch he likes.  Grain definitely fueled his appetite and it also caused him a miserable skin condition which is 99% cleared up ever since I started giving them grain free.  Right now Harry has a bit of a hot spot on his belly, which he overgrooms, so I'm tweaking their diet once again to help with that, having seen first hand how much improvement has already happened.  Nat still has some drainage from his right eye, despite having been to two different vets for diagnosis and treatment that did not help, but the drainage is no where NEAR what it used to be thanks to the change I've made in their diet.  He no longer sneezes either.

Since I just started about a week or so ago, I can't say with finality that my kitties don't like it.  I can only say they would rather leave the food in the bowl if something better is available, but they will eat it if there is nothing else.  That's not exactly a glowing recommendation.  That said, because it has canola oil in it, I do not plan to buy any more of it.
