Pros: Heavy base, never falls over, well made all around
I was hesitant to put the money in a cat tree for a long time because cats are so capricious and I feared my kitty would turn up her nose at it and I would be out a couple hundred bucks. Then, I took a chance and bought a Molly & Friends cat tree, the slightly smaller version with two tiers pictured in another review here....( see my other review ) for my one cat. The deciding factor was that it was on sale for Xmas, and the local store where I bought it promised to take it back if she didn't use it.
Well, she LOVED it and tried to climb on it even as we were bringing it in the door and she is not a boisterous cat ! She pretty much hung out on the top perch constantly, in front of the glass slider, which is directly in the sun and overlooks the back yard.
All was well until I brought a second kitty into my house a year later and the two of them were getting into power struggles, etc. My new neutered male kitten, when he became a year old, started the dominating stuff where he kept stealing my older female's top perch on the tree. My female started acting very agitated and ticked off....I feared I was going to get pee issues if I didn't do something fast.
Out of desperation, I bought THIS second cat tree pictured here, as a taller version, so they would both have their 'spots." Peace was restored to the house !
Now my male has his 'tallest spot in the house,' where he hangs out on the very top and she has her lower spot back on the original cat tree, which is all she wanted all along.
I decided to spend a little more and get the MOLLYs because they are really the best tree on the market due to the bottom base is WEIGHTED and is quite broad in relationship to the height of the tree. You cannot tip these over, which is the biggest problem I find with all the other trees. It would be nothing for my 15# cats to sail off the dining room table onto one of the 'tiers,' hit just the edge and tip the whole thing over on himself, with god knows what consequences. So the bottom WEIGHT and the broadness of the base was paramount to me.
Worth every penny. Because if you don't get a good heavy tree, it only takes one time for the tree to fall over on the cat and not only can they get injured but they will NEVER go on the tree again, I can guarantee it.
The first one is now about five years old, still going strong ( and my cats are not declawed ) and the taller one, which I got about three years ago, is doing great too. I can't say enough about this product.
