    Siberian for allergy sufferer?

An idea just occurred to me, maybe I can talk to a shelter about our condition, and ask if we can adopt a cat on a trail basis.  If gf develops allergic reaction (I think this happens quickly now, within days if not hours), then I take the kitty back for another, and so on.  Since cats produce...

    Siberian for allergy sufferer?

I used to own 2 lovely cats but had to give them up due to gf's allergies.  She loves cats but gets itchy eyes and stuffy nose when in the proximity of cats.  We didn't know she had allergies at first, it seemed to have developed and intensified over several months.  We had a longhair that I...

    Cat food debate?

This is wrong because litters don't get used up. When we change litter, 90% of what we put in were still there, but they just don't smell as fresh. Even a house with 2 cats will not use twice as much litter as a house with 1 cat, having one more cat will just use up a little more litter, this...

    Cat food debate?

Take Evo and Friskie for example. A 15.4 lb bag of Evo cost about $40-$45 here (assume the lower, at $40), whereas a 18 lb bag of Friskie goes for $10 at Wal-Mart. Now assume there are 5 cups to each pound of food, and the cat eats 1 cup per day of Friskie, but only needs 0.75 cup of Evo...

    Cat food debate?

That depends on a lot of things. I think it is generally more expensive in the long term to feed expensive food and cheaper to feed cheaper food.

    homemade cat treat?

I have determined that the best cat treat is simply raw pork. I just cut buy whatever pork from the supermarket, cut it up, and feed it to my cat and it loves it. The only problem with this is it tends to get my hand dirty feeding him. I can't exactly pick up a piece of juicy pork for him...

    wellnesscatfood.com

Wellness is good food, but it is also very expensive. A 5 lb bag costs about $25 here, similar to the price from PetFoodDirect.com when you add $9 shipping to it.

    Cat food debate?

I don't think you understood what I said. I said premium brand food is generally worse value compared to non-premium food at cheaper price. This doesn't prevent one expensive food to have better value than another similarly expensive food. Given any two items, even if both are grossly...

    Cat food debate?

$15 for 7lb of Blue Spa is actually pretty good price. Over here, it costs about $20, and Evo is even more expensive, about $25 for 6 lb. If you are concerned with the price, premium food shouldn't be the place to look for value. It is inherent in the definition of premium brand that it is...

    Annoying vet

I think it is better to see the same vet all the time, (unless his performance is unimpressive). We do have a free market system for vets in this country, so there is nothing to be upset about your vet, just go find another. and some people do call a cat "she", regardless of sex.

    Solid Gold: good food?

You think all three are equally good? I just went to the local Petco and was surprised to find SG selling at 25% cheaper than either NB or Castor, at about the same price range as MAX and below IAMS.

    Solid Gold: good food?

I currently feed Natural Balance, my vet recommends that I feed Solid Gold or Castor & Pollux Natural Ultramix (whether he gets kickback from them I don't know). Here are the ingredients for the three brands, which do you think is superior? Natural Balance Chicken, Chicken Meal, Brown Rice...
