Why does he do this? help

I guess I should add that they do this because they are expecting breakfast! One of us usually feeds them between 6:30 and 7:30. They don't like to wait, especially Nella! She is bad for begging.

Why does he do this? help

My older cats wake us up by meowing outside our bedroom door as soon as they hear any stirring inside past 6am. My kitten doesn't meow, but she paws at the door until we open it.  It's funny, too, when I'm in the nursery with my baby at that time (which happens more often than I'd like), they...

    Bullying!

Thanks catspaw66, I do appreciate the heads up. Perhaps I got on the defensive a little prematurely hehe... but you had me worried I was going to get some nasty replies!     Thank you for the sentiment, I do want to stick around.  I like the advice I've been getting here so far and I have also...

    Leaving treats out

If it's in a resealable bag, I'd think a month is just fine to have the bag opened, especially if your cats still enjoy the treats. But a couple more weeks and it's probably at the point where they will start to go bad.

    Experience with Hill's Prescription y/d?

I'm glad you stated this is only your personal opinion, because that is quite an unfounded statement to make. Curious - where did you get your stats? Hills has an enormous international market, and if vets really saw all these pets DYING from a food THEY prescribed, don't you think they might...

    Best remedy for feline arthritis

Have you considered a diet that contains many of these ingredients in supplemental levels?  I would highly recommend trying a food called Mobility Support.  It's at vet clinics. It has EPA/DHA, GLM, glucosamine and chondroitin, all in therapeutic levels. I can say that this food has helped my...

    Cat's hind legs giving out

Hi there, I'm new to this site as well - welcome!  I'm sorry to hear about the problems your cat is having... poor guy!!  I am surprised that your vet did not check for kidney disease... Cats start aging sooner than we can see (I heard that 10 years for a cat is like 56 years for a human)...

    Bullying!

Thank you for your responses.  Yes it's true, kittens can be real little buggers for well past a year!! So fun, yet so crazy sometimes!  To clarify, the kitten is not being vicious per se, it's pretty clear she's just having fun. She has a very friendly nature and never gets angry or anything -...

    Leaving treats out

As soon as the treats are exposed to oxygen, the fat in them will begin to oxidize, just as any food with fat in it would. There would be no harm in leaving them out for a few days, but if it were me, I wouldn't leave them longer than 3 or 4 days. They do really lose their freshness and cats can...

    What about bugs?

2 of my cats eat bugs all the time - flies, spiders, and especially moths and crickets.  Moths are a delicacy, but are always eaten whole.  Cricket legs, however, are always showing up in our carpet...  It's a great game for them and the extra nutrients don't hurt!  I also REALLY appreciate the...

    Bullying!

Hi everyone, I'm new on this site and I'd just like to hear feedback from other cat owners regarding somewhat aggressive behaviour in one of my cats. I'm not sure if there's anything I can (or should) do about it and would like to hear your thoughts... We have 3 cats.  2 of them are 5yrs...

    Weird household objects as toys

Hi, I'm new here.  I have 3 cats - two 5 yrs and a kitten almost 1 yr.  They are all SUPER playful (especially the kitten though) and make toys out of just about anything.  A few favourites lately are: beer caps, cords or strings of any kind (surprised none of them have been shocked yet!)...
