Have you used Feliway? Please share!

I got Feliway when I introduced a new cat into the household. I wish I had saved my money, it has done zero for these two and now I'm faced with the task of looking for a new home for the new kitty.

    Dental work caused serious problem

Poor Lucy...has the vet ruled out brain damage from the anesthesia? <---to you and your aunt, who must be terribly worried about her baby...I hope she eventually makes a full recovery and gets back to her old self

    What now?

ugh! think it's bad now? just wait til they grow up and leave home! I thought I couldn't wait til that happened, especially after the "terrible teens". When my youngest left (for college 1600 miles away) I thought my life was over. After dedicating my life for 20+ years to my children I felt...

Do you ever dream about your kitties?

I lost my Misty to a brain tumor on July 21st this year and hadn't had any dreams about him until just the other night. In the dream I was standing in a green, grassy field looking towards a log cabin beside some tall shade trees. On the front porch sitting in front of the door was my Misty...

    Licking Nose

Yep. Pye has done this since he was a kitten (he's 6 now). Not only will he lick, but he'll rub his gums on my nose to mark me (where have you been all day?!) and lick with a little nibble (I love you and want my tuna!) I gave him nose kisses as a baby, so this is the way he's learned to...

    Litterbox issue...I'm stumped!!

I agree, take him to another vet for a second opinion. Since his symptoms coincide with recently eating, sounds like some sort of blockage. Added pressure in the intestines or on the colon will cause these kind of problems.

    Urinary Tract Infection???

Glad to hear Bonkers is doing better! Filtered water is better than plain old tap, but bottled spring water is even better if you can do it. The chlorine used in most city water systems seems to be the culprit, from what I've learned on my own. Spring water is ionized instead of chlorinated...

Is this a sign that something might be wrong at home??

Nothing angers me as much as people who let their cats roam around outside. Especially kittens. Do these people allow their children to play in the traffic too? I would take the cat and give it a safe, loving home. Any cat wandering around without ID and a collar could be considered a stray...

    Kitty twitching

Ask the vet to do some xrays. There could be something putting pressure on her spine that causes the twitching or it could even be a pinched nerve. It's probably nothing to be alarmed about, but it's always a good idea to ask the vet. If he/she says there's nothing wrong, maybe kitten just needs...

not too worried but it's odd

Did this kind of sleepiness just start or has it been gradual with age? As cats get up in years they do sleep more, but if you have a relatively young cat that is hard to wake or sleeping more than usual, it's an indication of something wrong. Head injuries, thyroid problems, a virus, could be...

    Urinary Tract Infection???

I'm glad you're getting Bonkers to the vet! (btw, love the name!) The pink tinge is blood as the crystals scrape the urethra as they pass. This happens alot to neutered males. Not all of them, but enough for it to be common. Stop giving Bonkers tap water immediately and buy bottled water. Once...

    Chicken Broth

commercially prepared chicken broth contains high amounts of sodium and other preservatives that arent good for cats. Check the label for ingredients.

    Shelter cats

Thanks for the replies, everyone. I know there are always risks involved, just didn't know if this is a common thing, which apparently it is. One shelter takes cautionary measures by providing hand sanitizers at the door of every cat room and stepping on a wet bleached towel before entering...

Weird myths about cats you've heard

My ex MIL used to say that cats attract lightning. She was nutty though. Had all kinds of reasons for not liking cats, not one of them rational. I think the superstition about cats and babies is based on a sliver of truth, being that a baby's breath might smell of milk and a cat might crawl...

You have got to be kidding me?!

Wow, Dixie! That's some shocking news. Yes yes yes report him, and hopefully he won't be relocating to my county!!!
