    there are valid reasons for declawing cats. those who are diabetic, or have clotting disorders can become very sick or die from getting scratched by thier cat. its for the person's own health. as for health problems with the cat, i have worked in the veterinary field for almost 5 years now...

    there is a prcedure called a tendonectomy. where teh tendon that retracts the claws are severed. the cats can't scatch, but the claws are still there. and you have to make sure you clip them. it is an alternative to declawing and some younger vets know how to do. talk to your vet first

    my best advise is to keep on any meds the vet gave you as directed, and if the vet suggested a diet change, keep on it, its cheaper then having to go back for urinary problems

    i heard about this. the vet hospital where i work had only 2 cases (two dogs from the same family) come in so far. both presented with acute liver failure, one died over night, the other is declining. poor dears. no cats yet though we have had alot of sick cases this week, too
