    Update on possible panleuk kitten

Almost 2 months ago I posted a note about a kitten that I adopted from a shelter that may have had panleak. This is a happy ending story. It all started after I adopted Abbigayle and was then contacted soon thereafter that 2 of her littermates died. They were adopted into 2 different homes...

    New kitten and panleuk question

Abbi update: she is still doing great today and we're past the 48 "watch and wait" mark but by the weekend I'll stop worrying... Breal76-you are right about the test. The only way to really know is once the kitten shows symptoms the vet will perform a blood test. If the kitten has it, it's white...

    New kitten and panleuk question

Thanks for asking. Abbi still shows no signs of panleuk. I called the shelter today and her 3brothers who are at a foster home are all okay as well. A few more days and I should be able to breathe a sigh of relief. From what the vet said (and through some internet reseach) I learned it usually...

    New kitten and panleuk question

She was already at the vet tonight and shows no signs of the virus. Has anyone else had any experience in litters where this has happened? I appreciate the kind thoughts and prayers.

    New kitten and panleuk question

Has anyone had a litter of kittens where some died (possibly from panleuk) and some have lived? I adopted a new kitten from a shelter this past Friday. On Sat I received a call that one kitten out of the 6 in the litter died. I was then called 2 days later to be told of another. The vet at the...

    IBD in cat-seeking advice

Thank you for the support and kind words for Mertle and thanks for the suggestions. So here's where we are-she hasn't been very hungry so I have mixed it up-for better or worse, I am switching her food. I bought a few kinds as you all gave me suggestions and saw what she would take to. She likes...

    IBD in cat-seeking advice

Hi all- It's been a while since I posted but I can really use some advice. Mertle is 15 and has inflammatory bowel disease. Background: She has lived with diarrhea and vomiting for one year-and the diagnosis was pretty much IBD (I would not allow the vet to biopsy since I wouldn't have put her...

Taking stray to vet for first time

I had a bad experience with Clavamox on my "at home" cat. She had labored breathing, etc.and the vet advise we take her off it immediately. I have a lot of it still - if you think my outside guy has a URI do you think I should give him some clavamox to help? I can't get him to the vet til...

Taking stray to vet for first time

I haven't picked him up but my husband has and rough-houses with him a bit too-playing with his belly, etc. and the guy doesn't bite. He really is a lover - takes walks with us when we're there etc. Just want to make sure I am doing the right thing for him since I can't "adopt" him into my home yet.

Taking stray to vet for first time

We have a stray who has adopted us at our weekend retreat. He went from running from us to now living outside our place in a shelter we purchased for him. He is very loving - an unneutered male probably about 3 years old. I want to take him to the vet soon - think he has a cold, runny eyes...

Self Warming Pet Beds - Are they safe & do they work?

I have an outdoor male who adopted us at our weekend retreat. It is very cold in the winter so we bought him a good shelter and lined the bottom with a mylar warming insert that is to be used for inside small animal beds. We bought a large one and put it inside the shelter with a fleece blanket...

Who has a special needs baby?

I haven't been on this site in such a long time and re-registered. Your story touched me as I have a special needs kitty too. He has a bad front left leg - for anyone who remembers this from about 6 months ago, his name is Scooter. He was a rescue and was found close to death. I have experienced...
