This sounds similar to what my cat did. There may be a smell in that room of another cat and he may be transferring his aggression to you from the scent of that cat. Did you notice him sniffing anything? My cat freaked out over a broom I brought in from outside once.
Hmmmmm...you mentioned trash. I bet he smelled another cat on that trash that he did not like and now he has transferred that aggression to you. You should read my post. Similar.
Karen, it is a shame that the liquid form may not be a great option. I am also a little concerned that your cat is falling and not on her feet, but this is a situation in which one has to choose the lesser of the evils in order to get a long-term solution. Please keep me posted because I am...
Peanut: I believe a cat feels safe and secure when she is at home with her "Mom." Do you propose "cat psychotherapy" for her if the meds do not work????? The human needs protection just as the cat does. In this case the owner is looking out for her cat and I believe she deserves to be a "cat...

I certainly don't have all the answers ,but I do know that I miss my Boo every day and it has been 5 years, so I would hate to see you lose your cat or for her to lose you. I have a radical idea to throw out there, so stay with me here: What if you she had no claws AND no biting ...
Yes, I'm here and I'm very interested in hearing your story. I am sad when I think about Boo every day, and it has been about 5 years. He and I were very compatible. I have another cat now, but she is no Boo. She is sweet but extremely independent and only wants me to pet her when SHE wants to...
