Rescued a feral kitten who had been dropped off last summer. She's probably nearly a year old now, has been in the house about 4 mo. She doesn't distinguish between biting and clawing a toy, and my hand. She's fixed, had all her shots, in process of cleaning her ears, progressively. Not easy...

I'm writing this for my cousin who is about to drive her 2 older rescued cats from MA to NM. Same issues--wants to keep them safe and not let them overheat or escape. She's found a playpen with a zip-on top that she can keep them in, litter, water, food and beds, and just lift it in the motel...

I bought some of the "dollar store" cheap cat food, and the strays wouldn't eat it, either. When I checked the protein, there was very little in that cheap dry food. Switched to Purina cat chow, and it goes quickly. I guess squirrels and voles have the protein they needed, but not my cat food!

My husband and I have 2 cats, aged about 8, and we're taking in a female dropped off in the neighborhood with her brother several months ago. Our new feral/pet is long-haired, and she loves to be combed, but it has to be in her own time. When she jumps in my lap, in any place I occasionally sit, I have a comb or brush there. In your case, some of the good, sharp scissors from a craft shop would be good to have by your favorite chair...
