Yes it's normal... Spencer did "reblock" within 24 hours, on Christmas night and I had to rush him to the vet emergency clinic. He was there for a week... Yes it was worth it!! I don't regret a thing, Spencer is thriving now and has completely switched to canned food. It CAN get better!

Hi dawnk,  This brings back memories. Spencer is still with me and doing amazing, and living proof that a cat CAN survive a blockage. As others mentioned you must get him to eat. What is not mentioned in this thread (I think I had then started another thread) was that after Spencer came home...

Hello everybody! I'm happy to say Spencer survived his urinary blockage and is healthier than ever. I just saw these new posts, sorry for the late reply... It was a though road and I had to syringe feed him for several weeks. But anyway any question just ask!

Thanks guys :) Spencer is off all meds and that's actually what really started him eating back as usual. Perhaps that will do it for Portia too when her prescriptions are over.

Yes it took 12 days before he started eating again. He's not eating enough though, the vet says 1can 1/2 per day but at least it's a start. AND he started purring, grooming, and hanging out with us again - all this weekend. Huge milestone! He was on Buprenex like Portia at the beginning, but...

Hooray for Portia!! Glad to hear the good news, and btw I have some of my own as Spencer has started eating on his own again this weekend! I still have to feed him with the syringe to make sure he's getting enough, but definitely a step in the right direction!

For assist feed I open Spencer's mouth with one hand and squirt food with the syringe in. He actually chews and swallows it but my ve told me he's one of the easiest one. When he tries to get away I stop for a few minutes but although I feel guilty about bothering him like that, it is the best...
