    Small cell GI lymphoma

Our cat had started to pick up with his anemia after just 4 days of holding off on chemo. Vet was happy. His blood sugars were stabilizing with the new steroids and insulin. His weight had stabilized. Things were looking up. I had canceled 2 trips but since he was better I decided to go out...

    Small cell GI lymphoma

Had our cat in this morning for a CBC check since he is due for a chemo pill today and also to check his glucose.  Glucose is better, down into the 200's.  WBC's are normal, which they were worried about those dropping on chemotherapy.  However, he is severely anemic.  His red blood cells...

    Small cell GI lymphoma

Thank you! Just canceled 2 trips because we don't want to leave him and wouldn't enjoy ourselves anyway knowing he's so sick right now.

    Small cell GI lymphoma

He is on Pro Zinc insulin U-40. We were told it could take 7-45 days to stabilize his blood sugars but many cats show improvements after 7 days. Hoping the new steroid is easier on him also. Thanks for the good vibes and the diabetic link.

    Small cell GI lymphoma

my cats blood sugar is now over 500.  they switched him from prednisone to budesonide.  supposed to target the intestinal area and be less systemic than prednisolone.  They also started him on insulin shots twice a day.  he is weak and sleeps a lot.  still makes it to the litter box.  he will...

    Small cell GI lymphoma

I will ask vet about Pepcid and Anzemet. Yes, I thought he was having a stroke after Cerenia. I checked his eyes and his pupils were equal but he could hardly walk and was dragging one back leg. I almost took him to the emergency vet but his heart rate and breathing were ok, and my husband...

    Small cell GI lymphoma

The vet gave the cerenia, but I don't think he got sub q fluids first. I have zofran pills but they don't seem to work. The key with him is keeping him hydrated, and then his nausea seems better. Between the prednisone and the diabetes, he urinates frequently but doesn't drink as much as he...

    Small cell GI lymphoma

Hello, Our Spencer has small cell GI lymphoma. Had surgery with full thickness biopsy so we know what it is. Initially did well. Then stopped eating. Prednisone ( prednisolone) has now made him diabetic. He's battled nausea, vomiting, and now diabetes. He still won't eat. I have been...

    Lymphoma is spreading...time to euthanize?

Thank you for all the info! I will look up the yahoo group. Also others have said good things about Forti Flora, so will give it a try. It's so helpful to hear from others who have experienced this with their kitties. So far I have no regrets either (other than the lymphoma in the first...

    Lymphoma is spreading...time to euthanize?

Thank you for your story! I would be thrilled with 2 more years. Sounds like you gave your kitty the best chance possible. I've been feeding mine with a syringe also. I'm hoping if the chemo works he will feel like eating on his own. Didn't know zofran causes constipation. I've been...

    Lymphoma is spreading...time to euthanize?

Just went into vet for a check up. He's still with us. Living on syringe feedings for Two weeks. If I can keep him hydrated, that seems to control and prevent his nausea. He still doesn't want to eat on his own, though. His CBC is ok with the vet to start Chlorambucil. Calling around to...

    Lymphoma is spreading...time to euthanize?

Yesterday had a long talk with our vet and we agreed that he's not making progress and that chemo would not be beneficial in his weakened state at this point. Vet told me I have done more for him than he could ever ask someone to do and so I cried all day and then had to go to work. When I got...
