    What's all this ear?

Thanks for the reassurance,taterbug-I think that's what I'm looking for just now....My last adult cat(very much beloved)died a few months ago aged 18-I'd had him & his sister(she died aged 15)since they were both six weeks old. These two I have now were from an animal charity and as I said they...

    What's all this ear?

Hi,taterbug, thanks for the advice! Yes,I do try to guide little Alfie away from Archie whenever I see him-but of course I can't watch them 24/7.... It's interesting that when I'm asleep,Archie nibbles MY ear-perhaps it's a genetic thing with them? As you say,it's probably a comfort thing because...

    What's all this ear?

Hi,again-I'm back after obsessing about noses-now it's ears! I've just acquired two kitties(now nine weeks old)and they're great-have managed to clean them up a little(long story). Problem is:one kitten(Alfie)seems fixated with licking out the ear(s)of the other one(Archie).Normally,I wouldn't...

Hi,coolcat! Thanks for the welcome....I liked your tag-line-there are so many good quotes about cats: "Dogs have owners, cats have staff..." "In Egyptian times, cats were revered as Gods-they have never forgotten this!" "Women and cats do what they like-men and dogs should just get used to the...

    Angels with dirty noses

Thanks for the post,saya...I wonder if it's just an "age" thing and the kittens grow out of it and/or it's a body-defence thing-the gunge acts as a barrier against germs etc? Or maybe the kittens just grow up and groom themselves more? It's strange, but I've never had it with any kittens...

Hi,Cat52...So you were about to pounce,eh?(LOL) My "angels with dirty noses" post is on the Health section-I've just written there again. What kitties do you have yourself just now? I'm from Cheltenham(S.W.England)but have lived in Scotland for 26 years(two of them in Aberdeen) I've visited New...

    Angels with dirty noses

Yeah, I could understand it if my two had been left outside to fend for themselves, but I was led to believe(rightly or wrongly)that they had actually been BORN in a foster home! The mother had been taken in(she was roaming the streets pregnant)and therefore I can't understand why my kittens were...

    Anyone here from Glasgow,Scotland,UK

Hi,I've just been posting on the site recently("angels with dirty noses"). This is a great site-is there anybody reading this from my area who would maybe like to e-mail/private message or even meet up? It would be great for me to meet fellow cat-lovers locally-only one of my friends has a...

    Angels with dirty noses

Hi,Studio224 & mbjerkness-yes,they've found a doting home with me and I'm typing this now with one of the babes lying full-tilt on my lap-they've settled in quickly! Unfortunately,I can't post a photo at present as my digital camera has gone belly-up,but will get help from a friend to do so...

    Angels with dirty noses

Hi,White cat lover, many thanks for your reply! Yes,the work that the shelters do is amazing and largely voluntary too-and thank all the stars for them. However,I had been lead to believe that the kittens I now have had come from a private foster home and temporarily raised in a "family"...

    Angels with dirty noses

Hi,Studio224-yes,I'm very disappointed in the conduct of the cat shelter-which is part of the foremost British cat charity(who will remain nameless at present),and I had expected much better from them. They had also messed me aound on contact/admin issues(but that's another story!) I asked if...

    Angels with dirty noses

Hi,Jimmylegs(and Studio224 again)-thank you both for your posts! The person who handed the kittens over to me tried to say that the marks were because they had been sniffing each other's bottoms...No doubt kittens and other animals do this, but I've kept cats all my life(I'm in my late 40s)and...
