I got this a week ago and plugged it into my (Hannah's) bedroom to see if it would help her stop freaking out (hissing and growling) when Casey came into the room. It's accomplished nothing so far, but the instructions say it might take as much as a month to kick in. I still have to keep my...
My cat tries, but she just stands outside the box scraping the bare carpet for 20-30 minutes... or until the noise wakes me up, whichever happens first... trying to cover up with non-existent litter. I used to think cats were intelligent, but now I'm reconsidering ever owning another one after...
My big lug Casey (17 pounds) does the same thing... for the first couple days after picking him up from the shelter, we thought that somebody demeowed him... but no, he just does little girly meows, that's all . What a maroon.
Yep... my Hannah (who stays in my room) knows when I'm getting ready to leave the house. She'll stand on the corner of the bed nearest the door staring at me, holding one paw out while letting out these little "don't go" meows!
I think I should add that Lucy exhibited the same very clingy behavior as well during the period I mentioned... she would get angry when I removed her from my lap for any reason. She even had the strength to jump up onto my lap from the floor... and then I left the house one day, came back a...
Call your vet immediately, and get a physical and some blood work done. My little Lucy died from chronic renal (kidney) failure after a couple of months of this type of behavior.
If I had contacted her doctor sooner, she might have had a couple more good years with just a change of diet, but I...
Wow... what a variety of useful knowledge! I'll give crystal litter a shot after I finish this big load of litter I bought at Costco about a month ago (shouldn't take long, the other cat is as big as a small dog!). I might even try the Feline Pine again, as I have half a sack left of it.
As...
Maybe after we finish the 160 pounds (seriously) of the last litter, we'll try a new kind again. I've never tried crystal litter... does it smell very chemically?
The smell of the regular cat litter isn't bad, it's just that it doesn't get covered up with clean litter, like it's supposed to. I imagine that no matter what kind of litter we use, if it doesn't get covered up, it will stink just as bad.
We gave Feline Pine a shot for a couple of months...
Oh, well... I tried. I already tried the covered box idea, it was originally covered, so that's no help =[. Don't know where her mom is. We get all our cats from the local shelter.
I'll try putting a bunch more litter in the box (deeper), and let y'all know how that works out.
I've always thought of cats as extremely intelligent pets, but the behavior of this one cat I've owned for over a year just has me baffled. She correctly chooses to pee using the litter box, but she seems incapable of understanding exactly how to use it. The first problem has always existed...
