I have a Bissel PowerEdge Pet for the tile and wood floors.  I have a Black and Decker dust buster for quick cleanups.  They both pick up cat litter.  I have an older Sears Kenmore Progressive for the rugs.  My Electrolux from 1969 is in the garage and still works.  Good luck with your search.
