Please help manx kitten with incontinence

My Atticus has Manx Syndrome and he is 2.5 years old now. He is doing well. It's particularly hard to know what a long term prognosis is, but it sounds like there is hope for your kitty. I, too, was not familiar with the problems that manx kittens can have until Attiucs was a few weeks old...

kitten with manx syndrome, any advice?

I have a two year old cat named Atticus. He too has Manx Syndrome. I have posted here off and on about him. His mom was a Manx and she had a stump for a tail. Atticus has no stump or tail whatsoever. When he was little, newborn, I did not know that cats with no tail could have these...

    cranberry supplements

Can anyone recommend a good cranberry supplement for cats prone to lower UTIs? I want to start my cat on one of these soon. Thanks.

    Cardiomyopathy?

My Manx calico, Alice, passed away suddenly last January. She was approximately three and had shown no signs of illness, murmur, etc. One morning, I heard her make an odd cry, which I had never heard her do before. I was not necessarily alarmed, but went to check on her. She was lying on her...

    cat food question....

Yeah. That makes sense. I think I am just over-thinking this one. I am at a point where I am trying to really get as proactive as possible with Atticus. I was lucky to not have any major issues with him until he was 2 1/2. If his WBC count is not lower at the end of this round I am gonna be...

    cat food question....

By now, I have posted a few threads concerning my cat Atticus, who has had UTI issues and has Manx Syndrome. I have a question for those who have cats with chronic UTI issues. I was wondering if most of the urinary tract formulated cat foods address the acidity or pH of urine. Atticus has not...

Why is dog food so much cheaper?

I have often wondered this too. Especially after the cat food brand I use, raised prices on their cat food only. Also, many stores do not carry near as much cat food choices at dog food. It's very frustrating.

    Cat with chronic UTI condition

I had never heard of Cosequin. From my quick reading just now, I guess this is supposed to help with inflamation? My vet and I think that Atticus definitely has issues with bacteria in terms of the UTIs due the Manx Syndrome. His urine sits in the bladder a bit longer than in normal cats...

    Cat with chronic UTI condition

Update 10/1/07 Last week, my vet ordered Zeniquin, since Atticus has taken Baytril before with no problems. He said Zeniquin was one of the best medications for UTI. It's also in the same family as Baytril. He takes it only once a day (yea!) and has had no apparent problems. I am keeping my...

    Kitten with Urinary Track Infection

Antibiotics usually are given in the duration of about 14 days. At least in my experience. It is very important to get kitty retested to see what her pH levels, WBC and RBC counts are. Your vet should know when it's best to do this. But if kitty seems sicker, I would definitely call the vet...

    Complications from UTI Medicine?

My kitty Atticus has had UTI issues since August. He cannot take Amoxicillian or Clavamox, he throws both up. My vet told me to stop with the medicine if he threw up. If your kitty is lethargic and acting strange I would stop the meds until you call a vet. I am sure I am late chiming in...

I'm at my wits end and almost in tears. (sorry long post)

My vet too only needed one of the cats in the house to diagnose and prescribe treatment for all the household cats. I am having trouble remembering, but they may have gotten medicine and I may have had to find out all of their weights. I think the shampoo I mentioned was dermazol. But ask...

I'm at my wits end and almost in tears. (sorry long post)

My brother's household went through this a few years ago. A stray manx kitty (who later became my kitty) had it and his whole house got infected....five other cats, my brother, my sis in law, my nephew and myself. First of all, my vet suggested washing the kitties...all affected or who had the...

    Cat with chronic UTI condition

I have thought about injections. I don't know if I would need to board him for the duration if it was a daily thing, which I imagine it would be. It would be costly and I hate to leave him there like that. *sigh* I don't know. I will see what the options are tomorrow.

    Cat with chronic UTI condition

I am about at my wit's end. I picked up the Amoxicillin pills at the vet this afternoon and stated Atti on them tonight. I got him to swallow it pretty easily and there was no drool or foaming. I fed him right after and thought everything was okay. I should have known that was too easy...
