    introduction problem/read prior posts

Hi, I have to almost 5-year-olds tabbies who I adopted together. I have since introduced a dog to them (3 years ago), and they got over their initial hatred of her and now eat with her, sleep with her, etc. I have now taken in a stray (kitten) tabby and my cats are mad at him, and each other...

    My cat's voice sounds hoarse

My 4 year old cat has sounded funny for the past few days. He is normal in terms of eating and behavior. He doesn't seem to have a cold, no sneezing or extra discharge from his eyes. Any ideas as to what could be causing this? He kind of sounds like he's been smoking cigarettes.

fur loss, do I need a vet

I have two cats that are 3 years old. One is a long hair (Dos), the other short(Uno). The long hair has had a substantial amount of hair fall out on his tail, near the base, and on his belly, near his bottom. He seems normal otherwise, and I saw much of the hair come out in a hairball. The...

Not familiar with cats. Please Help!!

I agree. I hate bleach and the way it smells. It can create holes in fabric so how safe can it be (rhetorical question). I use Simple Green in my house because it is environmentally friendly and smells good too. My concern with chemicals is that my kitties may step on a surface that has been...

OT: Article on Cat vs. Dog intelligence

I too was struck by the statement that cat's brains are similar to human brains. I think a lot of people assume that because they have small heads/brains, they are stupid. On the contrary, I find cats to be really pretty sharp (and smarter than many humans I know). This applies to dogs too...

neighbors cat is harassing my kitties

I think I will try that sprinkler. The neighbors cat comes over all day long and in the wee hours as well, when my cats are inside, so it might work to train the neighbors cat that he doesn't like our watery environment. Thanks for the idea. Do they sell those scarecrow sprinklers at home...

neighbors cat is harassing my kitties

and yes, I check on them all the time. Honestly, I worry about them and I am a total mother hen with them. My husband says I obsess over them which is true. I treat them like they are my children. I enjoy watching them roll around in the sun. It's pretty cute.

neighbors cat is harassing my kitties

The neighbors are right across the street and are pretty nice people. Ironically one of the neighbors stated that his cat had been attacked recently and he was trying to figure out what cat in the 'hood had done it. Now that I know his cat is a bully, I look back and laugh at his statement...

Not familiar with cats. Please Help!!

I'm an allergy sufferer too, but I like cuddling with my kitties. Try Flonase and Claritin together, that seems to work for me. Also, since I have been exposed to my cats I have noticed that my allergic reactions have lessened, and I used to get really itchy eyes and nose. Now, it is very...

neighbors cat is harassing my kitties

Hi, I have two one year old cats. They are brothers and get along very well. I do let them outside when we are home and they stay in our backyard. Luckily they are scared to go too far. I do have to let them out because they are very vocal about their displeasure of having to be inside all...

administration of medication via ice cream

Hi, Both of my cats (8mos old) are on medication. One for pain for a fractured leg, and the other takes amoxi drops for a cold. After discovering that they love ice cream (they pretty much attack us when we are eating it) I though I'd try giving them their medicine mixed in a teaspoon of ice...
