    chirps and hoots

This may sound silly, but until J.D. and Misty I've never had cats. What exactly does a hairball look like? I found something on the floor the other day that resembled a used SOS pad, but I wasn't sure if that was it.

That sounds cute. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one with "chirping" cats.

    chirps and hoots

I know that indoor cats often chirp when they look at prey, but does anyone have cats that use chirps as their primary form of communication? My two cats chirp or hoot (I've been told they sound like owls) all the time. Misty especially likes to walk up to you as if she wants to be stroked, then...

    Most unusual Kitty names?

I know a girl who named her cat Bump. (in honor of the people who gave it to her) I don't know if this counts as unusual, but I named one of my cats Mistaya.

Inside vs. outside kitties, which are yours?

My kittens are definetly indoors only. In fact, most people I know don't allow their cats outside. My mother-in-law is the exception. She has indoor/outdoor cats. I guess it's fine for them but, personally, I would drive myself crazy worrying whether or not they would come home.

    Alternative to cat-nip?

The kittens are almost twelve weeks. I have two different types of scratching posts. One is a carpeted tower that has feathers hanging off of it. The other is a circle that lays on the ground. It has a cardboard center and a ball on a track that goes around it. These toys are in the center of...

How did you choose your name?

The name serena_p is one I've been using since high school. Serena comes from my love of the Japanese anime Sailor Moon. (Serena is the name of the main character.) The p stands for my real name, which is Pamela.

    Alternative to cat-nip?

I'm having difficulty getting my kittens to use their scratching posts. While they are interested in them, they don't quite know what these new toys are for. I read that putting cat-nip on the posts can help to encourage them to scratch. Unfortunately, my kittens don't seem to like the smell. In...

Comprehensive cat food poll - what do you feed your cats?

My kittens eat Eukanuba dry food. I get the special kitten formula and they both seem to love it. It works especially well since I'm free feeding them for now. I've also kind of shied away from the canned food because I'm afraid they'll respond the way my dog did. One winter I started adding...

New kitty on the block (and human too!)

Being a new kitten owner myself, I share your concern about the price of shots and fixing. My best advice is to call several vets and check their rates. I live in Nebraska and found that there is a HUGE difference between the price of services depending on what vet you talk to. Here the price of...

    Let me introduce myself

Thanks for the advice. I went ahead and called today when I got up. The vet told me that as long as everything else is fine the sneezing probably just means he has a viral cold. If he doesn't get worse, all he needs is time. I am planning on posting pictures of them. I probably have fifty pics...

    Let me introduce myself

Hello, I thought I would start out by telling everyone a little bit about my two kittens. (Please forgive me if I'm long winded) They're eleven weeks old and have led miraculous lives. They were found by my sister-in-law's husband, Brad, at an auto junkyard inside a car that was being...

    This Was RUDE!!!

A lady I work with has an apple-headed siamese and to find out what the cat looked like I did some checking. All being an apple head means, at least as far as I know, is that your cat is the original type of siamese. Apparantly several years ago, it was decided that the thinner faced siamese...
