My cat is acting normal otherwise, but has this odd red wound it looks like a scrape. he does go outside sometimes but I am keeping him until he heals. Do you think if he isn't ill otherwise this is best course of action? I dont' think there is infection to need antibiotics

I am taking him to vet tomorrow but worried 4 year old cat is sick. Out of the blue I noted some of that black stuff in ears like when they get mites? But this time it was more pronounced. Then he got listless which is weird. Seemed to get better now is back to just laying around sleeping...

Why do cats start hiding or sleeping in closets more? Should I be concerned. He doesn't usually do this but the past couple of days he does all the time, he still eats but acts normal although does seem sleepier than usual. It could be this heat wave we are coming off of here in California too.
