Thanks! The vet said to keep an eye on his weight, as the pancreatis will cause weight loss. He weighed 17 pounds last year (October) and is down to about 16.5 now but scale difference could probably account for some of that.
Well, the vet ran a battery of tests including blood tests and everything appears normal. Gave the cat some anti nausea meds just in case. She said to make sure he doesn't lose any weight quickly as this may point to a pancreas problem that they can't test easily for. Looks like all is well though
He hasn't been to the vet in about a year and has never had his kidneys checked as far as I know. We made an appointment to take him this afternoon...hopefully it's just a cold or congestion or something. He's probably about 6 years old or so. Sorry to hear about Stormy
Last night one of our cats spit up about a tablespoon or more of a foamy, mucus consistency vomit. This is maybe the 3rd time he's done this in the past few weeks. No food or fur at all in the vomit. Anyone ever experience this? It's not really uncommon for the cats to puke but this one was just...
Is the new formula of Nutro Max Cat roasten chicken UTI certified yet? Is there any reason to believe it isn't UTI friendly? 2 of our 3 cats have had UTIs in the past so I want to make sure this food will be OK going forward. Thanks!!!
We also had very little of the old food to mix, but everything seems OK so far. One puke from 3 cats in a week isn't bad Hopefully that wasn't Nutro related...these cats tend to eat whatever they find on the carpet so I'm not too concerned right now. I really hope this formula comes back with...
Any opinion on this canned food for UTI prone cats? The ingredients don't look the best but the cats don't seem to like the Nutro Max too much. They tolerated Hills c/d for a couple months but I wanted something non-prescription and a bit less expensive. Any more recommendations? I haven't tried...
But aren't pouches smaller than cans? The pouches I've seen are 3 ounces, while the cans I use are 5.5 ounces, so I'd have to use almost 2 pouches to equal one can, negating the cost savings and leveling the environmental impact somewhat, right?
Innova (not the EVO) was what we were feeding while the cats got the UTIs. We've since switched to Nutro Max and the cats won't touch the Innova now. Also picked up some Hill's c/d based on the vet's recommendation, but I prefer to not keep them on that for life. Thanks for the responses.
True...here are the ingredients...fish doesn't seem to be a major one in comparison to pork. Not a fan of the pork by-products, but this doesn't look nearly as bad as I thought it would. I definitely don't want to feed this full time.
Pork By-Products, Water, Pork Liver, Fish, Rice, Oat Fiber...
Well, the fiancee picked up the food today from the vet and it is Hill's c/d fish flavor. I thought that fish should be avoided with UTI prone cats but I guess this stuff is UTI friendly so we should be OK. Roofus' ph, btw, was 6.0 when we had him tested, which was probably a day after we...
Thanks for the feedback. Would any wet food help dissolve the crystals or will I need a prescription wet? Would adding wet a couple nights a week be sufficient? Roofie drinks more than any cat I've seen, so I just don't understand how he got this.
