    Urethra Blockage and Diet

Thanks for all the responses. I'm going to start giving Ridley filtered water from the grocery store and I'm switching him to raw food. The vet gave me some Hill's, but I personally think Hill's is crap. I'm also going to see about making myself a Smart Cat Box rip-off so I can test the ph of...

    Story behind your cats name

Hester is named after a professor at the university my husband and I were both attending when we got her. Ridley is named after a dragon from the video games series Metroid.

    Urethra Blockage and Diet

I had to take my cat Ridley to the vet today because he couldn't urinate. They said his urethra is blocked and they'll have him for a few days clearing it out and keeping him with a catheter to flush out the bladder. Now, I'm wondering what diet changes I can make when he gets back to...

    Taming Feral Kittens

I currently have four feral kittens in my living room in two dog crates and am trying to tame them. So far, they're responding quite well. They eat out of my hand and all but one will sit in my lap and eat while I pet them. The only trouble is, two of them like to swat at the food I'm...

    Grain Free Wets

Okay, I get it now. Thanks.

    Grain Free Wets

Well, I understand they need bones and organs as well, but I'm under the assumption that the non-meat ingredients in these cat foods are vegetables, not bones and organs.

    Grain Free Wets

I don't really understand how something that's all meat could not be complete for a cat. Don't they eat exclusively meat in the wild? Someone explain this to me.

Turns out my new place has tenants...

Ack! I went out there today and it turns out there are four kittens. I've been feeding them and mom, too. She'll eat out of a dish that's between my feet and even if my hand is on the dish, but she won't let me touch her. The kittens are much much worse than I thought and older than I...

Urinary tract and cat foods (orijen and innova)

So does that mean that the wet varieties of these brands would be good? ETA: I was considering switching to raw, as in just ground up meat and nothing else... would that be good?

Turns out my new place has tenants...

Thanks for the advice. I officially took possession yesterday, so that was the first time I was able to be there for any period. I fed the mom but the kittens seem to have disappeared... I wonder if they died. Mom was so skinny, maybe she couldn't nurse them anymore... we'll have to see.

Urinary tract and cat foods (orijen and innova)

Hi all. I'm currently feeding my cats (one indoor housecat and one outdoor feral rescued cat) innova, although I'd like to switch to Orijen as I have switched the dogs over to Orijen, now I'm just waiting for the Innova to run out (the dogs eat it up faster than the cats!). Anyway, I'm...

Turns out my new place has tenants...

The new place I'm moving to in two weeks has a cat living under the house! She also has two kittens. This is out in the country and the house hasn't been lived in for two years, so I'm guessing that the mother was abandoned by the previous owner (the owner also left three sheep and a llama, so...

    Critique my cat litter plan...

Those are great suggestions, thanks! You didn't seem rude at all, that's exactly the sort of constructive criticism I was looking for.

    Critique my cat litter plan...

I don't mind that temporarily, but I don't think I'll have long-term problems because I've seen how both cats act around strange cats and neither seem to mind other cats. My sister told me a story once of how Oskar was waiting by the door to get in and the neighbour's cat was a few feet away...
