Another way would be to get them a tall scratching post, this way they can simulate climbing a tree like a young kitten.

Your right, it's probably a habit, I have kittens of my own and the mother slaps them whenever they try to nurse(they're 3 months old) but, they should grow out of it, if they continue I would just gently set them down or move/shake my foot whenever they try to climb you

Sadly, I think the reason 2 died or were born dead, was because of malnutrition before I had her. The rest(3) are doing very well!
