What in the world does this mean?? (confused)

We have the same thing! Reno would start to bath Rocky on the bed, and at first Rocky would enjoy it, but the bathing would just become so ferociously instense that he would literally bathe Rocky off the bed! For the first six months we had Rocky, we had to put a chair next to the bed for him...

    Staring Cat...

My Rocky . . . who at six, still looks like an over-sized kitten and has a Ph.D. in cute! -- is a rolly-polly black Exotic. He learned, early on, that rolling onto his back and letting his belly hang out was simply irresistable to us humans (of course, the belly is just for looking at and for...

    Sensitive Hindquarters

I've had several female cats that developed that same sensitive spot after they were spayed. . . and for several of them it appeared painful or at least annoying (and often resulted in a swift swipe to the unsuspecting petter). I've been told (but it may just have been made up by someone)...

    Possible Anxiety?

I think you may be right that Dita is suffering from separation anxiety . . . but the suddenness of her behavior change suggests she might be going into heat if she hasn't been spayed yet. If you aren't sure, you may want to take her to the vet. Otherwise, I agree with everyone else's advice...

    Meowing......in the early AM

I agree with Hissy . . . cats can take a long time to grow out of behavior. But if you ignore her, she will figure it out. My Lexi used to wake us up at 4 a.m. every morning because she wanted attention. We ignored it after a while, and she stopped doing it. I don't remember how long it...

    Making a cat cuddly...

MenagerieMama . . . I didn't mean to suggest that you were doing anything wrong . . . Actually, it sounded to me like you have the magic touch, and I agreed with everything you said. With ferals, especially, its a long road, as they have usually encountered so much abuse from strangers that...

    What's my cat saying?

When we first moved in to our new house, and I was keeping the cats inside for a month, this orange and white would come to the glass door and bait Harry, my very territorial Norwegian Forest. I used to joke that Harry dreamt at night about the cat coming around when the door was actually open...

    Question on cat eating grass***

I've tried growing kitty grass, but it always seems to die on me once it gets to about 1 1/2 insches. Are there any secrets?

    Very affectionate cat :)

Ha!! My experience has been just the opposite. Out of the 12-15 females we've had spayed in my family, I'd say they have either been unchanged or become more temperamental. Even Lexi, who was the sweetest and most loving girl for all her 22 years (RIP), become a bit of a fussbudget after she...

    Not able to reach

What a great idea . . . Sam, who spent her first four years fending for herself in largely hostile territory, just fell in love with eating once she moved in here and could actually eat without looking in four directions at once. She would actually step into the dry food bowl to get as close to...

please help my cat biting my older cat

Also, it could be that the Bengal is frustrated because his old playing buddy isn't up to playing anymore. Have you thought about getting a younger playmate for the Bengal? Not too young or rambunctious, as he would likely terrorize your older cat, but one say 9-16 months who demonstrates a...

    please help !!!

Kitty tranquilizers can temporarily help reduce any stress. Also, it could be temperature related. When my step-mother developed a severe allergy to her cats, they had to move down to the basement (although they also could go outside). Stress from the changed environment, coupled with a new...

    my kitties play too rough

As for the scratches on Bootsie . . . if they are about the same as you might get if the cat played rough with you (i.e., small, scabbed dimples), I wouldn't be too worried. Just clean it once with some hydrogen pyroxide and kitty triple antibiotic (kitty claws tend to have a lot of histamines...

    my kitties play too rough

From the looks of Monty and Bootsie sleeping together, I'm guessing that it is just pecking order scuffles: Monty letting Bootsie know he's boss. As hard as it can be not to intervene, I would let them work it out unless Monty really seems to be harming Bootsie. My alpha cat, Reno, is a...

    My Baby Hates Me!

I agree with Kathylou on both points. Some cats get very jealous, and can show it a number of ways -- from aggression (towards you or the other animal), to pouting, to the silent treatment. And sometimes cats will act out like this if they are in pain or ill.
