I have automatic hands. Whenever I feel that ball of fur pounce into my lap my hand scratches under his chin, behind his ears, at the base of his tail, under his chin, behind his ears, repeat... And then it all stops when he pounces out of the human's lap and pretends like nothing just happened.

My 12-year old DD went to see it today with her friends and they loved it - gets a bit violent/loud at times, but that's what the book is about. And the cast was amazing. I'm sure you and your kids will like it.
Most of the movies we watch now as a family are ones that the kids want to watch...
