    Tooth extraction and lethargy?

Hi, folks! My older cat (a little more than 11.5 years) had 4 teeth extracted during his dental cleaning last Monday. He was given pain medication for two days afterwards and seemed to do well. He is eating and drinking and even played a little the last couple of days with Da Bird. But he...

    Introducing Oliver!

We finalized the adoption of Oliver this weekend. He's somewhere between 1 and 2 years old (I'm guessing closer to 1 and was found during a TNR program by animal control. He seemed too friendly to release but he had a respiratory infection so he was put in kitty foster care with some friends of...

    Speeding up cat introductions?

Thank you! We have. His name is Oliver, Ollie for short. We were able to finalize the adoption this past weekend, and he's actually doing really well with our other two cats. He's quite the little ambassador. We don't leave him alone with them yet when we're not there, but our oldest cat Phantom...

    Speeding up cat introductions?

Thanks again for the advice everyone! We decided to go ahead and adopt him! He was neutered yesterday and seems to be recovering nicely. We'll hopefully finalize the adoption this weekend. We tried to keep them separated but the little fella is quite squirrelly and ended up escaping more than...

New addition to my home is very, very aggresive!

I am so very sorry you, Brisco, and Plucky are going through this. :( It is admirable you are trying so hard to help him. I just wanted to say, please do make sure you clean those bites and scratches very thoroughly and get the bites checked out. Bites are basically puncture wounds and easily...

New addition to my home is very, very aggresive!

I've had a cat attack my head before too. It's quite frightening. I'm so sorry. I'm sure you'll do whatever is best. Sounds like a really tough situation and you're trying to do your best. Hang in there!

New addition to my home is very, very aggresive!

If you're willing to try it, just thought I'd let you know there is a droplet form of cat Prozac, which is much easier to give to an anxious cat than the pill variety. Just like with humans, it takes a few weeks for the medication to take effect. I'm glad you're willing to get him neutered...

    Speeding up cat introductions?

@Cinqchats - it's not about our (the humans') schedules. :) We are trying to maintain the right balance of doing the right thing by our older resident cats who already experienced some upheaval just a little more than 2 months ago and possibly helping a new kitty find a safe, loving home. I...

    Speeding up cat introductions?

@Ginny and @Margd - thanks so much for your kind response and advice! I will ask if we can continue the trial visit after his Sunday surgery (for neutering). That's a good idea, and they definitely might be more accepting after he has been neutered. We'll want to make sure he has enough time...
