I hope Stubby is ok!! Hopefully the feedings you were able to give now helped build strength. It breaks my heart to hear everything she's gone through and that stupid vet! :( She is so lucky to have you looking out for her! My cat would drool at the sight of the syringes too when I was force...
I really hope you can get the doctor to do the surgery for the tube. My cat had HL about two years ago now. I tried the force feeding and it was so traumatic to both of us-- once I got him the e-tube, feedings were so much easier and he would even lay their and purr as I fed him.
I feel so bad...
My first thought/fear was one of them having an illness as well. They are both being overly lovable towards me though. My boy cat was very ill about a year ago, with hepatic lipidosis. And even when that was going on they just kept their complete distance from each other. I kept them separated...
I am so confused by my cat's behavior at the moment! I have two cats, brother and sister who turn 7 this month. They have always been super close and attached. Starting last night they seem to hate each other. I was woken up with viscous fighting and ever since they growl and hiss if near each...
I'm glad Joey is great as well!! The feedings deff get easier as they become routine. Tyson would purr which made me feel much better too :) The whole ordeal made me even more of a cat lady than I already was ;) haha
Jenfrog,
I felt the same as you when I found it! I had never heard of HL and my vet did not seem too encouraging at first, so I was pretty scared. This site showed me how common it really is and made me feel so much better! Also, yahoo has an assisted feeding group and I learned great tips for...
Yay! That's great news about Joey and Monkey :) I am so happy our babies all are recovering so well. Monkey Brewster, I felt the same way about not being able to picture Tyson being his old self again. I feel like now he is even better though :) I get super happy just seeing him eat from his...
Tyson's breathing was very loud as well with the tube-- so hopefully that's all your issue is too. Sometimes it sounded louder than others- like something was stuck in his throat. I felt so bad, but he didn't act any different. But maybe that's why once the tube came out with his emergency he...
That's awesome he is doing so well! I think I'll look into some better wet food too to since they usually eat more of that in a sitting than the dry food. My girl Molly tries to eat everything I put down so I've been having a fun time trying to keep food away from her and not away from Tyson...
It kind if sounded like a snore! I could hear his breathing in his throat was different with the tube in, especially if he was purring real hard. I think Tyson loves the extra attention too.. Now whenever I'm home he barely wants to leave my lap. At the beginning, I think his sister was jealous...
I'm actually having a similar story to yours! The weekend was super eventful. Saturday I came home on my break to feed Tyson and the water I flushed with came right out his mouth. Rushed to the vet and it turned out he had thrown up the tube and the piece that was left was flipped backwards in...
I'm right with you guys on the ponytail hair! I work retail and feel like I haven't actually taken the time to get ready for work since this ordeal started on 11/28. I feed every 4 hours so I am looking forward to him getting better just so I can sleep through the night again :)
Every day I see...
Thanks for the website! It was definitely more thorough than a lot of ones I have found. I feel like I'm already becoming an expert on this topic from all my Google-ing :) Tyson has bloodwork tomorrow, so ill really get to see how he is doing so far!
Tyson has been treated for his HL for about a week and a half now, and tomorrow marks a week with the E-tube. He had pretty severe jaundice and I was wondering how long it normally takes for it to clear up? It looks a little less yellow, but still very noticeable. I know it takes a while for all...
