    Nursing Mom With Tapeworms

My foster momma has tapeworms and I was wondering if I can get her dewormed when she's still nursing her babies. (Her babies are only 11 days old!) My fosters are in a spare room and have no contact with my 2 cats, but is it possible for my cats to get infected by cross contamination?

    She does this on purpose...

Wouldn't you rather give her a small water bowl? I'm sure cats don't care, but drinking out of the toilet is gross and it actually could be harmful if there is any cleaning product still in the bowl or water.

    Need help please

Okay sorry if this is a stupid thread (or in the wrong forum) but I need some opinions from experienced kitten owners. I was fostering this kitten through my humane society. I took her there three weeks ago for her spay and she was adopted right after. I had her new family all lined up...

    My Foster Won't Stop Scratching!

Well, I should say she won't stop scratching the furniture and carpet. I have a home lined up for her already and I feel obligated to tell them what to expect so I'd rather correct the problem now. She has a cardboard scratcher that she also uses, and I trimmed her nails. Her new family...

    kitty licking my nose

Ha! My boy does this too! And he's relentless; I'll give him my hand to try to pacify him but one second later, he's back after my nose. And it HURTS! He's not gentle and he also gives it a nice painful nibble.

    Cats and Houseplants

Wow... avocado? That's scary... I dropped a small piece of avacodo and one of my cats promptly ate it and then begged for more. Good thing I didn't give it to him! My one houseplant is out of reach (good thing - it's a philedendron) but my 2 fosters go to their new home soon and I'm worried...

    Cats and Houseplants

Do you have any links that detail which common houseplants are poisonous to cats?

    Kitten Won't Stop Nursing

Oh, that's a great idea (tube sock). I'm not sure how she'd tolerate it but I could give it a shot. I'd really like to get her spayed at the same time as the kitten because they're both going to the same home (yay!!!) so it would be nice if they could go to their new home together. Do you...

    Kitten Won't Stop Nursing

Thanks. They're Humane Society girls that I'm fostering. I just called and they won't spay Momma yet. Shoot.

    Kitten Won't Stop Nursing

Can a mother cat be spayed if her kitten still nurses occasionally? Or does her milk HAVE to dry up first?

6 Wk Old Kitten Won't Eat Solid Food

Wow, she's a little fatty! I didn't realize! She only started using her litterbox 2 days ago and I've only caught her going outside it once (mid flow so I picked her up and put her in there!). She hasn't had a solid bowel movement to the best of my knowledge though. Good luck getting...

6 Wk Old Kitten Won't Eat Solid Food

She doesn't seem interested in solid food at all. I've tried giving her canned, solid moistened with goat's milk, solid moistened with water... nothing works. She just doesn't want it. She's still nursing and she continues to gain weight (she weighs 1.6 lbs - is that normal?) but I think she...

    A coyote in our yard!!!

No. They're more scared of humans than vice versa. I saw a few coyotes near my work (in NE Ohio) and I was amazed! Of course, I googled the heck out of coyotes because I didn't know much about them. They're not going to attack humans but you do have to watch your pets. Coyotes have to eat...

    Disciplin...

My Gary is a stubborn little brat! He knows he's not allowed on the counter but he gets up there almost daily. I clap, tell him to get down, slap my hand on the counter right next to him, etc. and he just looks at me. He knows I won't do a thing to hurt him so he takes full advantage of that...

    Disciplin...

Oh, okay! Good! I use a spray bottle on my cats when they jump on the table or counters. I don't have a better solution. I guess you could try a can with pennies in it. Just say 'NO' and shake the can whenever Jackson is doing something you don't like. Hopefully he'll associate 'No' with...
