First, my condolences for your loss.
I had a similar situation. 3 cats. Mozart and Maggie who were 16 and Miller who was 13. All 3 had been together since we brought Miller in as a kitting. So 13 years.
Mozart and Maggie both passed with 4 months of each other the end of 2021/beginning...
Just wanted to follow up on this. He has been prescribed B12 injections and Cerenia for the vomiting. So far so good. After 3 days on the Cerenia the vomiting has completely stopped and hopefully the B12 shots will prevent it in the future (diagnosed with IBS).
My nearly 15 year old cat was diagnosed with diabetes in June of 2022. He has been on insulin since, starting with one unit, then increasing to two units, before finally settling in at 2-1/2 units, where he has been for about the last 9 months.
Last Friday, he went in for his bi-annual glucose...
I know it's difficult, but you really need to try and get him switched over to wet food. Dry food is too carbohydrate rich for a diabetic cat. If he insists on only eating dry, definitely switch to a diabetic friendly food. I personalyy use a combination of about 60% glycobalance and 40%...
I have an extremely hard time believing this. A cat is not able to use two of it's legs, and a vet is just going to send you home with two shots and say he will be fine? With no other explanation?
It may cost you a few dollars, but try calling a tree trimming service. A lot of them have boom trucks. And you may get lucky and call one owned by a cat lover.
1. You say "it's only been a few days", yet you also say you just got her yesterday.
2. Why on earth would you adopt a cat if you're "not a cat person and just don't like having cats".
Seriously do not understand this post at all.
$75 a month for dry ( a mixture of prescription and Orijen) and probably another $100 on wet (again, a mixture of prescription and higher quality wet.) Add in his meds (insulin and syringes) and I'm over $300 a month.
I think it varies widely. The ones I purchase, the Orijen Freeze Dried treats, are the same price on either site. Only difference is I don't have to spend $50 on Amazon to get the free shipping thanks to Prime.
