I put my cat down, - did I do the right thing ?

Thank you very much for this, it really means a lot to know that someone can relate to my loss. You'd have to know what we and Mokie had together to really understand, but I think you can. MM3

    feline lymphoma

Ruby, - this is a very good post, and well written, and very informative, - thank you for this. It helps. Read my recent thread above about getting my beloved Mokie put down this morning at 11:30AM. Needless to say that I am totally beside myself this evening, and about to spend my first night...

I put my cat down, - did I do the right thing ?

Wow, - this is Soooo hard. Mokie was 18, had uncontrollable diarrhea for a long long time, but seemed to get really bad lately where he wasn't making the box, and sometimes having blowouts every 2-4 hours, with some of them pink with blood. He lost 3 Lbs since July, and the Vets said that his...

Scrappy update: He survived surgery and still loves me!

Yeah, - a few people that I've talked to know said the same thing. I'm a little concerned now too that they didn't give him anything for me to take home. The doctor kept saying on the phone (when he called me at work after the surgery) that he's going to feel SO much better based on what he...

Scrappy update: He survived surgery and still loves me!

Scrappy survived his surgery, is home now, and is recovering well. Both of his lower fang teeth that were broken off in his abandoned, and abused past have been dug out of his jaw bone and are now gone. The doctor cut open the abscess that broke open twice and cleaned it all out and sewed him...

Open wound on chin/bottom of mouth

Well, that be the case, ole Scrappy will think he's died and gone to heaven, as he goes NUTS when I bring out wet food for him. So this should not be a problem. It's hard watching him trying to eat that hard dry food, so yeah, I'll keep him on the canned stuff. MM3

Open wound on chin/bottom of mouth

Thank you for the kind words, and information. There is no problem keeping him in the garage, - he mostly wants to be in there any how. It's carpeted, heated, 2 litter boxes, sleeper cups, and a few stools which is just loves to hang out on. When he was better, he usually just ran out of the...

Open wound on chin/bottom of mouth

Thanks for the well wishes. No, - they didn't give me any pain meds now. Like I said, he doesn't appears to be in any pain. But then again, how would I know? He lets me touch his wound, but I don't know if his overall jaw, or mouth, or anything is else is sore, hurting, or painful. Would a cat...

Open wound on chin/bottom of mouth

Back from the vet with Scrappy. Poor guy, I really feel for him.. Anyways, the vets says it's an abscess, and that the infection channels run all the way up thru the jaw to his lover fang teeth which have been broken off and flush with the gums back from his abused and abandoned life (which we...

Open wound on chin/bottom of mouth

What is a "warble" hole ? Yes, he does go out, but not for long. Lately, when I come home, I come in thru the garage door, and he'll run outside for a bit, then come back in to hang out with me in the garage. The weather is cold and rainy in Seattle now, so he'd rather just hang out with me in...

Open wound on chin/bottom of mouth

Hi, - new to the forum mega cat lover here... One of my 4 cats "Scrappy" (1 of 2 garage cats) developed an open wound under his chin. I noticed a cut, or "hole" in the bottom of his chin a week or so ago, and thought it to be some sort of injury. Scrappy has FIV, but the wound seemed to have...
