This is so crazy but as I was yet again researching auto-immune diseases, I came across my own post here. lol and I saw that it was just recently bumped up!
So I guess I will update on Max!
He's still alive and well. And he hasn't relapsed since I made these posts. He'll be 11 at the end of...
Thanks for the information.
What we have been doing so far is to just get away from him for a bit. Thankfully, it normally doesn't take all that long until Max will move on to something else.
I've been trying hard to think about past aggressive episodes and what Max was doing beforehand. I...
I was thinking of trying Feliway diffuser. Not really for this problem with Max but because of my other cats, Lexi, has storm anxiety that is just getting worse. Maybe it could help Max as well? I don't know.
Max isn't in any danger of being rehomed or anything like that, of course, but we...
Hi everyone! I posted on this forum awhile back about my 9 year old cat, Max, who has an auto-immune disease.I come today with a different issue. :)Max has always been...feisty, we'll say. Ever since he was a kitten he would easily get overly stimulated and "attack" people. It was pretty normal...
Thanks!!
Eddie is very special to me for a number of reasons. He wasn't an easy puppy and I really had to step up to the plate as a pet owner to make it work with him. What I've learned from and because OF him has carried over to the rest of my pets as well. :)
Thank you very much! :)
Kristin,
Thanks for telling me about your experience with IMHA. I WANT to hear from others and hear their stories because you're right, it doesn't make us feel so alone with this. I honestly don't think a lot of people really understand how serious and scary auto-immune diseases really are.
As...
Thank you for your post, momofmany. :)
Right now, the vet is leaning toward IMHA but before that he thought it could be PRCA. Honestly, I don't think he really knows at this point.
Right now, Max seems completely fine and acts 100% normal. However, whatever this is its like a monster in the...
I don't think that any of my cats really enjoy being held but they will tolerate it for short periods. Max and Gus will sometimes lay in our laps to be petted but Lexi, who was a stray, rarely will sit in our laps...but every once in a great while, she'll "ask" to be picked up. She stand up and...
When we introduced Lexi to Max and Gus...Max just acted indifferent to her. Gus was full out aggressive toward her and would bully. After a few weeks, he went through a period of depression, I think...because I assume he finally understood that this new cat wasn't temporary. He stayed upstairs a...
I used a clicker with my little stray that I found in September. She's not feral but unsure and even sometimes fearful around us. I just used it to help create positive interactions and focusing on the clicker distracted her from thinking too much about being unsure of me, I think. It was...
Thanks for your response. :)
Two years ago, when he required the first transfusion, his HCT was 9.5. When he relapsed in November, but DIDN'T yet need a transfusion, his HCT was 20. He had that CBC test November 28th and by December 19th, it had fallen to 13. That is when he had another...
We used to use clumping cat litter but one of my cats has pica and would eat his litter. We switched to Swheat litter but it didn't seem to have much odor control. We then switched to Arm and Hammer corn litter. It does fine odor wise, but I'm not happy with the amount of tracking. It gets...
Hi, I'm new here too! :)
I, also, think that it may be a good idea to follow up on the cat and talk to the owner. It would probably go a long way in giving you closure and being able to put this behind you.
I understand how upsetting this was and is for you. I remember when I was a teen, I...
