This sounds like a strange case of jealousy for me.  I feel the vet might be right.  As much as you may be angry with the cat, I really do not feel like putting a cat down is a viable option.  Take the vets advice and see how that works, then gradually take him off and see if the change sticks...

You've got some nice looking cats here.  I like the picture where your cat is "crashing the train table".  My cats always find the most comfort in the most awkward spots as well, just to be a part of the attention.

We always find Millhouse and Joey causing trouble in the tree.  I'd swear they were monkeys and not cats.
