After years raising cats, I chose a difficult one

Thanks. Well, really it has to do with her wanting to be in the bedroom window (favorite spot) while I am trying to sleep, my bed being few feet away from. She climbs up and in.. out....in...out...up and down.. jumps on my bed, then back to the window, scratches drapes, wall to enter another...

After years raising cats, I chose a difficult one

I know... my intention was to get one that was older and settled, and that day, allowed other factors to guide me, having emotional reasons.. and not wanting to "keep searching", though had expected to make a proper decision. There being one volunteer at that shelter to handle all guests...

    Moving cat boxes?

It sounds like it could work out, there being a slight adjustment for, but at least are already acquainted with being downstairs.

Thanks...yes, I know it may vary. It's just that this one apparently was not socialized, not knowing what occurred during her first year or so, then the last owner only had for 11 days when returning, and should have considered, but I thought I might make a difference. It seems she may have...

After years raising cats, I chose a difficult one

I have endured having been bitten HARD on my hand, her not letting go, seemingly affecting veins, as it was throbbing afterwards. There have been scratches with irritation and a bit of blood at times. She has grabbed onto my hand / arm / leg / foot and twice, jumping upon my back while walking...

After years raising cats, I chose a difficult one

Wow...well, that makes me feel a bit better since not experiencing quite the same level of crazy that you have been able to endure. Still, this has been unusual for me, and she is going on two years, but as some have said, this sort of behavior should / can improve in time. Thanks for that...

After years raising cats, I chose a difficult one

🙂 Thanks so much. Yes, initially, while having been grieving for my last pet (nearly 16 years together), I was considering how I would select a new pet, if and when doing so, and made a list. Then, one day, I spontaneously went to the shelter -- then 2 days later, visited again. I had been...

After years raising cats, I chose a difficult one

Thanks. I would not normally ever consider returning an animal to a shelter...my thought was that if she was really uncontrollable, there is information about putting down a Hyperactive, troubled cat...which sounds awful, I know, but she would be out of control with others, besides. I would...

After years raising cats, I chose a difficult one

Thanks. She does have access to the window sill from where the draperies part in the middle, jumping upon the bookcase and risers for her to reach. I won't understand why she is trying to access another way, scraping, clawing. 😟 Then, her getting up...then down...then up, then down...

Thanks. Yes, the wet food plate is what she scrapes over, tosses - either right at first, during or after having returned to eat some more. There is no rhyme or reason. As said, 4 prior cats had never done this, having eaten an array of wet foods, so it's new and is work for me. 😕

After years raising cats, I chose a difficult one

I know...I have hoped so. She is young and having to grow and develop, again not knowing what has contributed in her past. I have just wondered about others having experienced this hyperactivity, changeability for a while, as I have for 5 months. It is unusual. My experience with Vets so...

After years raising cats, I chose a difficult one

Hi, and thanks for all your replies, explanations and suggestions. I have read some of these remarks elsewhere online. I guess it is just tough, since having raised four other cats that had not had any of these problems mentioned and know they came from only their original care / litters...

After years raising cats, I chose a difficult one

After having raised other cats over years and having had good relationships with, I adopted a cat from a shelter a few months back, whom I am finding difficult to deal with. I realize she must have not been socialized and may have been mistreated in her first year of life and should have been a...
