bad time at the vet today...advice needed

thank you, I will do that.  I also feel terrible about the vet tech getting bitten today, so better to make do unless it's an emergency I'm realizing :(

bad time at the vet today...advice needed

thank you!! I will order that today for sure. As for trimming her nails one at a time I MIGHT be able to do that eventually, but I'm unwilling to try it now since I am still trust-building with her.  I handle her paws every "love" session we have in preparation for me being able to do that one...

bad time at the vet today...advice needed

hey everyone - I posted a few months ago about the semi-feral I live trapped and brought inside on New Year's eve. Lonely Girl has taken her time, but is becoming very friendly with us, and is super gentle when we have our petting and brushing sessions.  I had to get her nails trimmed this week...

    will they ever get along??

so frustrating and sad....sometimes I wonder if throwing a 3rd cat (kitten?) into the mix would restore some kind of balance...

    will they ever get along??

I posted back in January about a feral/stray we took in before a big snow storm, and she has been living in a bedroom for a little over 3 months.  We have an existing cat who is same age (3) as feral and is very interested in her still, though we kept them apart for a good 5 weeks.  Now we have...

New parent seeks help with a new stray/ feral cat

we have been giving smaller, more frequent meals with our semi-feral 3 yr old that we trapped and took in New Year's eve.  We give her a small amount on wet food in a bowl, place it right next to us and sit with her while she eats it.  By giving her a small amount each time, she is willing to...

New parent seeks help with a new stray/ feral cat

most likely she is acting out of confusion and fear and made a mistake. Make sure anything soft, fuzzy and made out of fabric (except what she's sleeping on) is covered by the spiky plastic or just put away.  Get yourself a bottle of Dumb Cat spray (I know - the name) at Petco and spray...

New parent seeks help with a new stray/ feral cat

i'm "paying it forward" because I've received excellent advice on this forum myself :)  Leave the cat alone in terms of determining where she should go, sleep, hangout, and when, etc.  The BEST thing you can do is talk to her softly in a high voice register, and just live your lives normally...

New parent seeks help with a new stray/ feral cat

we brought in a 3 year old semi-feral that hid for a month, and pooped on the door mat. We put down plastic floor protectors that are spiky on one side, spike side up, wherever we didn't want her to poop. worked like a charm. You can buy it by the foot in carpet dept of Home Depot, it's on big...

    advice on adopted stray behaviors

thank you for responding :)  yes, the back door in the bedroom is a big glass door that leads out into the backyard. I drew the blind on the door all the way down last night, and as far as I can tell she has held her bowel movement and pee all night.  Couldn't find any signs anywhere where she...

    advice on adopted stray behaviors

well...affection-wise we have some progress: when I greet her in the morning with her food I pet her lightly on the head.  Both yesterday and today she stood up and arched her back/stretched under my hand and I was able to pet her from head through her whole tail.  I petted her while she eats...

    advice on adopted stray behaviors

Thanks for responding :). She was here almost 6 days before she pooped at all but it was in litter box. Then the next day we had to basically trap her under a blanket to get her into a carrier to go to the vet. Very scary for her. She was sedated for the vet exam and shots etc and then when we...

    advice on adopted stray behaviors

Oh boy just went back to visit with her and she had come out of hiding to poop and pee on our guest bed. I just changed her litter and put fresh layer of potting soil on it. I'm worried . I took off all soiled bedding and sprayed nature's miracle and folded the bed back into a couch. Should I...
