My cat has only been away from her adopted kittens for 4 days and she's already in heat.  I have an appointment for spaying but, in the mean time, she won't eat, just hollers and whines.  Is this normal for her not to eat while in heat? 

My cat had 5 kittens in March and, at 7 weeks of age, they were eating and drinking, using the litter box and hardly nursing so I found homes for them.  I had to surrender 2 of them to the shelter and was told that they would be spayed/neutered shortly.  She's now in heat again, only 4 days...

Unfortunate for you that it costs so much to spay/neuter your cats.  I live in Northern California, in Monterey Bay, and this elderly woman left a fortune to the SPCA when she died to have low-cost spaying; it only costs $5 for a male or female.  We are so fortunate as long as that grant doesn't...

My cat was in labor all night and hadn't given birth by morning so I took her to the vet, he did a  $900 c-section cause she had a dead baby in the birth canal and then delivered 5 babies.  However, without my permission, he spayed her at the same time and I brought her and surviving babies home...
