    Ticks..ugh!

We have four indoor cats. Last night I was petting Panda, and I found what I think was an engorged tick on his neck.  I decided I would take him to the vet this morning to have it looked at and removed.  But guess what, this morning the tick is gone!  Besides being freaked out about having ticks...

    Well, the power's out

I live in CT and we lost power Saturday as well. We are not projected to get it back for 7-10 days! We'll probably be staying with my father-in-law as he has a generator and we have two small kids (ages 3 and 5 months) that we need to worry about keeping warm. But I am also worried about my 4...

    Scratchy

Lost our kitty Scratchy on Friday afternoon to renal failure. He was only 7 years old. It all happened too fast. We took him to the vet after noticing he had become lethargic over the past week. He had bad breath, was constantly smacking his lips, and just wasn't acting like his spunky...

    Bumps/sacks on neck?

I felt some bumps on my cat, Maggie's, neck yesterday and finally got a good look at them today. They are the size/color/feel of a raisin protruding from her neck. I'm thinking they might be ticks but I have no idea? All our cats are strictly indoors. However, Maggie got outside briefly two...

    Distraught -- Maggie missing

Thank you so much for all your advice and support! I am happy to say, Maggie is home. I've only ever had indoor cats and never had one escape (my worst fear!), so I immediately thought the worst, that we would never see her again! My husband was walking by the back woods, and heard her...

    Distraught -- Maggie missing

Infrequent poster, but long-time reader of the forum. Just had to share my anguish that one of my beloved cats, Maggie, got out of the house this morning. We have 4 indoor cats. Somehow, the screen fell out of a window, and she got out! We did not notice the missing window or that she was...

    My daughhters sick.....

sorry to interject, being a lurker and all, but i would not suggest an alcohol bath. i'm a 3rd year pharmacy student currently taking a pediatrics elective and we were instructed NEVER to recommend alcohol baths because of the dangers of children inhaling the alcohol as well as absorbing it...

    Cat + Box = Fun!

Itchy is the box lover in our house. Here she is when she was a kitten: And more recently: My husband is always mailing lots of packages, and she is always jumping in the boxes!

    Our Cat Quartet

Yes, he sure looks so innocent when asleep! That's about the only time we can get a picture b/c he is constantly on the move. He loves to use our legs as climbing trees. LOL. He definitely fits his name. Here's a few action shots:

    Our Cat Quartet

Yes, that's right! "The Simpson's" is my husband's favorite show. We stuck with the TV theme in naming our other two. "Rowdy" is from one of my favorite shows, "Scrubs." We had a hard time coming up with a name for Maggie, so we returned to the Simpson's for inspiration
