My kitty usually behaves like this with season changes. Now that is getting warmer out, 89 humid, she will not be as enthused about eating food as she was in the winter time.
If it was my cat, I'd wait for a little while before taking to the vet.
Good luck to you with whatever you decide to do.
Light food is not good for weight management as it has too many carbs. Smaller portions of regular food would be a better choice, and introduction of wet food into the diet.
Also, Nutro recently had a recall: http://www.nutroproducts.com/press-r...ss-recall.html
I think an argument can be made for both premium and non-premium food.
Cats natural diet, that consists of meat and very little grains cannot be compared to Meow Mix ingredients that have no meat in the ingredients. So in that sense, diet consisting of plenty of meat is best. Premium food...
Blue Spa is a much richer food than Nutro Natural Choice. After Nutro recall, I switched my kitties to Authority Chicken & Rice (Petsmart brand). Pretty simple ingredients.
Wheezing could be an upper respitory infection, but I am not a doctor. So maybe another vet visit is in order?
Thanks for the analysis Sharky.
I've only seen this food in 2.2 and 16.5lb packages. I get mine through pet food direct. 16.5lbs - $30.

For those looking for Nutro Max Chicken replacement, Canine Caviar Chicken With Salmon Cat Food might be a good alternative.
Ingredients:
Dehydrated Chicken, Whole Ground Brown Rice, Chicken Fat (preserved with Mixed Tocopherols), Chicken, Ground White Rice, Pink Salmon, White Fish, Sun-Cured...
If it is a no-kill shelter, and your friend thinks feeding wet food only is a problem, let the kitty go and find another.
If it IS a kill shelter, I'd adopt the baby and try to work around his issues.
Wet food is best for kitties, but dry food that is premium is not bad either.
There are foods...
My cat got very obese on EVO dry food and quite a few people report the same results. For losing weight, wet food is best.
Remember that EVO dry is 612 calories per cup, which is a lot.
I would try to find less caloric food for your kitty.
When I got a kitten and had an adult cat, I switched both to All Life Stage food.
My older cat didn't gain weight on it, and younger grew on it so it was perfect.
I fed Felidae in the beginning.
I didn't start noticing weight issues until I tried EVO, not to mention the older kitty was screaming...
I have read somewhere that maker of Serengeti, Timberwolf is in process of being sold to IAMs.
Cannot for the life of me find where I read this, but figured I would pass the information along...
Out of the foods you posted, Natural Balance Duck is the simplest, but duck can be too rich for some kitties. Solid Gold seems the least rich to me.
I would stick with something with not as many protein sources. I like Solid Gold out of the ones you posted. But you would have to email them for...
I usually give one little piece per girl per day. But mine do well on Greenies.
Organix treats and Castor & Pollux gave them diarrhea though (also very healthy sounding treats). And Natural Purrz as well. Must be different for every kitty.
