How do you teach an orphan kitten to not bite HARD ?

If hissing means "back off" what does growling mean? Thanks, Kim

Angels baby is almost 5 weeks!

I loved the video. I'm glad you get to keep him because I can't imagine how heartbreaking it'd be to give him up. He truly is adorable.

    stinky kitten gas

I appreciate all the feedback. The vet ruled out any truly bad stuff when I first took him in for the diarrhea so I'm thankful it's just plain old gas and not Giardia or anything. It's so funny, because he'd be sleeping cradled along my arm and I could feel the little bubbles in his belly...

    stinky kitten gas

The vet said to split a capsule of culturelle. When his stool firmed up I quit the culturelle. Someone said to try bene-bac (you?), but things improved so I didn't get any. I have introduced dry kitten food mixed into the wet. I thought the change might have caused it, but lactobacillus...

    stinky kitten gas

After watching all the threads with new babies, I feel like odd man out with this question. Okay, so the diarrhea cleared up and Ben is doing pretty good at using the litter box now. He still misses at times, but not nearly as often. So, is it normal for kittens to have stinky farts...

Kitten diaper rash. What to use?

For what it's worth a day or 2 ago I read that a dab of olive oil helps soothe a sore kitten bottom. I wish I could remember which site. Sorry. Good luck.

    Hi all!

Thank you to everyone for such a warm welcome. I think the diarrhea problem finally worked itself out. The day I was going to go find the Bene-bac I found I was picking up actual formed poop piles from the carpet instead of the runny stuff. I think the extra litter pans are helping. I...

    Hi all!

I hope I didn't break any serious protocol by posting my problem (kitten poop) before my introduction. I'm Kim. I have 1 husband, 1 daughter and 2.5 felines. I got Oreo (you can guess what she looks like, I'm sure) shortly after my husband and I started dating about 15 years ago. She's a...

    Probiotics for kittens?

My vet recommended Culturelle. I'm dividing the contents of the capsule and mixing one fourth in Ben's food once per day. While we still have some diarrhea, it has helped over the last week. Now if only I could get him to poop in the litter box every time.

    drowning in kitten poop

Thanks. I'll try that. I read pumpkin helps too. I was so proud because last night I watched him climb into the litter box on his own and poop (which he promptly stepped in.) But of course this morning I have 3 new spots to clean up.

Which breed makes the best lap cat?

Several years ago my husband and I kitty sat for a friend who hand-raised some orphans. We ended up keeping 2 of the 4. Out of all the cats I've had in my lifetime those two were the most social and loving lap dwellers. I think the reason for that is from the time they were born they were...

    drowning in kitten poop

The vet checked for dehydration and he was fine then. I've been watering down the soft kitten food. Plus we're giving water via a syringe. I haven't seen him drink from the bowl yet. I don't think he knows how. But I have seen him urinate when I've placed him in the box. Also, he passes...

    drowning in kitten poop

We have a 'starter' pan. He's quite a climber and has no problem getting out. I've never seen him try to get in, but it seems shallow enough for little legs. I like your idea of a pan in every room. He seems to find a spot he likes, then after we get it cleaned up he finds a new spot...
