I am really sorry to hear about your cat's diagnosis. Can't imagine what I can say to make your situation better. I wish there was more awareness out there for cat's dealing with these situations and more information out there for pet owners.
Would you suggest nature's variety canned food? He hates the hills food so thinking of taking it back. Tired of being scared into staying on perscription if I don't need to.
I will keep this in mind when I look into more food options and let you know if I come across anything. I hope she gains some weight soon hang in there you are a great and caring pet owner.
This is really helpful to see the paperwork as mine did not seem as extensive as this. I am wondering if he will eventually be put on beta blockers too I will definitely ask when I take him in next week for a check up. I will definitely take your word on this food Idea as I do not really want to...
I appreciate the kind words. I got on this website to vent about this issue and how frustrating it is to think that you are buying food even from veterinarians and these products aren't always suitable either and it feels like a losing battle. I mean if you really want to know what is best for...
Do you know the sodium levels of the food you're giving? I heard low sodium diets are good for cats with heart problems. Since you work the 12-14 hour shifts a lot I would definately increase their wet food intake in the mornings or whenever you get back home. Water is very key in their diets...
I am really sorry to hear this is going on. With signs like these the best thing to do is blood work and/or x-rays. Believe me, I tried the basic route first when my cat was lethargic and hiding out and not eating and I wish I had gotten the x-ray sooner because it turned out he had fluid...

Hi everyone-
Does anyone know of any low sodium diets to feed cats with heart problems? I researched that low salt is good for cats who suffer with heart conditions yet my kitty has urine problems and is on urinary so from royal canin and that has added salt. Any recommendations?
Heart murmurs can downgrade? I was told that wouldn't happen and my cat has a grade 4 but has been responding very well with lasix after he had a scare with fluid buildup in his lungs.
Just wanted to say I am really sorry for your losses. I have had so many questions myself about HCM and I had an echocardiogram done on my cat as well and they said likely diagnosis for him is HCM as well and no signs of Congestive Heart Failure as of now. The thing I cannot understand is how...
My cat Benny is 4 years old. He has had urinary problems 2 times. The first time was mild and required amoxicillin and a diet change which resulted in a quick recovery. A few years later, Benny seemed completely fine until immediate symptoms occurred with him becoming extremely lethargic, not...
