PetPorte cat flap - opinions please!

I appreciate your advice gail, but it's not a decision we've made lightly. Both my boyfriend and I have talked about it a lot, and we know how happy the cats are when they can go exploring outside. It improves their quality of life no end, and it's not something we're really willing to...

PetPorte cat flap - opinions please!

Hi everyone, We've started letting Oscar and Smudge have time outside during the day, and think that we need to consider getting a cat flap put in now. I'm uneasy about them wearing collars as they love to climb bushes and would hate for them to get caught, we've tried them on quick-release...

Kitten thinking the bath is the toilet!

I just want to re-iterate that he has only actually done it 3 times in the 2 months that we've had him, I just didn't want it to develop into a habit. He is fine with using his litter tray and I don't think that's the problem at all. Don't get me wrong.. I do appreciate the advice still...

Kitten thinking the bath is the toilet!

Yeah we're starting to get the tiniest bit of mould on the walls.. we only moved in here 4 months ago so I think it started long before us. I'll look into dehumidify - thanks. As for the bath tub - i'll try to keep it as dry as possible, he has only ever gone when it's wet so that makes...

Kitten thinking the bath is the toilet!

They have one litter tray upstairs currently and we've not had a problem with that in the couple of months that we've had them. They will soon be allowed out as they were castrated last week so we will have them off of litter trays shortly.. But, I will add another litter tray upstairs tonight...

Kitten thinking the bath is the toilet!

Both kittens (6 months old) like to jump into the bath after either of us have had a shower, and they like to watch the drips off the shower curtain.. but a week or so ago Oscar just squated and pee'd in the bath when they were both in it!! I was shocked to say the least and hoped it was a one...

    Pre-anaesthetic tests

Well my family had cats for the majority of my life, but I guess I never really thought about the cost. The fact that Oscar was ill when we first got him meant that it cost an extra 200 pounds, then another 200 yesterday.. 400 in less than 3 months. Either way, they're well worth the money.

    Pre-anaesthetic tests

Well I suppose we now know that both cats are healthy! As for the dilated pupils, they've actually gone right down now so I think it must have been the anaesthetic. I was expecting to have to beg for forgiveness from them, but they won't leave me and my boyfriend alone!! Are following us...

    Pre-anaesthetic tests

Aww, well I'm so glad you caught it early, it must have been the best investment you've made. The kitties bloodwork came back fine - and they've pretty much recovered already! I posted this on my other thread but just thought I'd ask here also.. Oscars pupils are dilated now (woke up from op...

    After care for Castration

So the kitties are home and they're both fast asleep at the moment. They were wide awake charging around earlier so I'm glad to see them sleep. One thing I have noticed though is Oscars pupils are dilated, and have been since I got home 30 minutes ago (they woke up from the op 4 hours ago)...

    Tipsy kitty

Our family cat caught FelV from a fight before.. thankfully he survived and made a full recovery, but to me, I don't think you could mistake anything else for it, the systems are so obvious that you'd get them to the vet before you can even wonder what it is the cat might have. He was pretty...

    Tipsy kitty

I have to say that the first thing that sprang to mind here is an ear infection or something. Maybe check her ears? With no disrespect to you guys as I know you're all very knowledgable etc.. I think maybe throwing all these suggestions of terrible illnesses just from a couple of incidents of...

    Pre-anaesthetic tests

Oscar and Smudge are in for their castration today and my boyfriend just called to let me know he's taken them in etc. He also said that he's opted for them to have the pre-anaesthetic tests (at £40 each!!). I was just wondering why they do pre-anaesthetic tests? Obviously anything that makes...

    After care for Castration

Thanks for the advice guys. Tomorrow is the big day! (or not so big day) So fingers crossed for my little boys please!!

    After care for Castration

Oscar & Smudge are going in for their castration on Friday, so that we have the weekend to look after them. I understand that it's a fairly small operation and that the vets will give us some advice too, but I just wanted to see if there's anything we'll need to do after their op, asides from...
