Otherwise healthy kitten won't eat on her own - pls advise.

I'm glad you're managing to get a decent amount of food into her via syringe, and hope that her eating on her own is a sign of things to come. Good luck!

    Help with new kitten

Also, the milk I'm talking about is kitten milk replacement - the rescue place I volunteer for used KMR Powder (). And the wet food is Royal Canin Babycat.

    Help with new kitten

It sounds like she hasn't been weaned yet - kittens usually start eating solid food rather than milk at about 4 weeks. What you can start doing is putting some wet food in the bottle with the milk so she gets used to the taste of the wet food. If she's chewing at the bottle, then she's really...

How frustrating! Has the vet come across this before?

    Fostering

Hi Milkshake, that's great that you're interested in fostering - there are so many little kittens that need help to survive and they wouldn't make it without volunteers. I fostered through the Humane Society in my area for the first time last year, and they had a 2 hour info session and a manuel...

    Topical Flea Treatment not Working?

I use Advantage and have used Revolution in the past and found both of them to be good. Not sure about using it so soon after the flea treatment you just applied - I would check with the vet about that.

Otherwise healthy kitten won't eat on her own - pls advise.

Aw, she is very cute. Sorry to hear she's not eating. I don't really have much advice as it sounds like you've already been trying all of the right things. When one of my cats was a kitten and  not very keen on eating, I fed her some warm chicken and she would eat that. Sounds like you've...

Ideas on how to get my oldER sick cat to exercise

Is he interested at all in playing with you with toys? I've never met a cat (even old ones who usually don't play much) who didn't like the Cat Catcher:  There are also the food dispenser toys that you put dry food (or treats) inside and they have to work to get it out.

Pet Insurance - other people's thoughts?

I have the major medical plan, which doesn't include wellness checks. Yeah, dental problems (even cleaning) are really expensive - my cat's cleaning and extractions cost about $1300.

Would you adopt a kitten with Giardia?

Lillypie, no, I think you're fine to leave if it the diarrhea is gone - I would only worry about it if comes back. I was paranoid about my other two older cats getting giardia so had the kitten tested again before introducing them, and it came back positive even though she had no symptoms so...

Pet Insurance - other people's thoughts?

I  have insurance for my 3 cats and got it when I first got them all as kittens. It's with Nationwide, major medical plan - I think it's about $215 per year per cat. I haven't made a claim yet, but do have a claim to submit now for one of them who was just diagnosed with tooth resorption and had...

Would you adopt a kitten with Giardia?

I wanted to update again to say I ended up adopting the kitten and there have been no further problems with giardia. She had to have a few rounds of medication because she kept testing positive for it even though she didn't have any symptoms, and we had to keep her isolated from our other cats...

    One cat--do I really need 2 litterboxes?

My two adult cats share a large litter box. They're siblings and have never had a problem with it. I do keep it very clean, and put out an extra box when we go away and the pet-sitter will only be scooping once a day. So yes, I think one box for one cat is fine!

    How much your baby weigh?

My new adopted kitten weighed 2.2 lbs at 10 weeks - she is the runt of the litter. At the Humane Society in my area they spay and neuter kittens after they have reached 8 weeks and 1.5 lbs. My kitten wasn't even 2 lbs when she was spayed at 8 weeks. She (and her bigger brother and sister) sailed...

Cleopatra - Bloody stools and elevated calcium

Hi, I just had foster kittens who had diarrhea and blood in their stools and they were diagnosed with giardia, a parasite. Giardia causes a really foul odor in the stools (one which I am all too familiar with!) so it sounds like that could be a possibility for your cat. Apparently it is hard to...
