They need to do bloodwork and test for the toxoplasmosis, not just guess that it's what he has. Also, have them check his gamma globulins. We just lost our precious Abby to FIP and the uveitis was the first clue. We ruled out everything else that can cause it. Do this quickly and if his...
Well, Mike,
Abby is almost totally blind now. She feels her way up the stairs with her nose. She can see light and shadow, I think, and big shapes. She is still able to find her cat bed, her food dish, the litter box (thank God!) and her cat tower. We are still waiting for a response from...
Well, we are still waiting for Dr. Legendre to return to his office so we can fax him the application to get Abby into the PI trial. But I think our time is running out. She can no longer see out of her right eye and her left eye is almost blind, too. She can see large shapes, we think, but...
Oh crud, honey. See my post on Abby and FIP. They will have to rule out everything else, first. I had them retest for FeLV and FIV which came back neg. They also tested for toxoplasmosis which can cause uveitis (the pupil thing). Bartonella henselae (cat scratch disease) can cause uveitis...
Oh no. I was hoping you were not going to say that. It sounds like he has the dry form of FIP. Please have your vet do all the tests for that. My Abby is having this problem right now and we are trying to get her into a drug trial being run by Dr. Al Legendre in TN. Are his eyes looking...
They are both very pretty cats! I can't imagine hairballs making his third eyelid do that. Is his fur still fluffy, or is it greasy looking?
And thank goodness you are taking him somewhere else!
Well, they have to eat. When Abby had a bad URI and wouldn't eat, I sucked up Gerber chicken baby food into a syringe and squirted it into her mouth. I did the same with water because she wasn't drinking, either. She started eating after two days of force feeding. I was so happy!
Well, at least Abby is eating and drinking. We went to the vet for a recheck on her glaucoma. The good news is the pressure went from an average of 52 to an average of 34. Doc wants it in the 20's, but we are seeing some improvement there. On the downside, she saw some spots in Abby's left...
Has your vet not mentioned allergy to flea bites? This is what I was thinking through this whole thread. My friend had a grey kitten that started loosing all its hair except on the head, tail, belly and feet! Poor Teddy was allergic to fleas! They treated him, their other cat, and the house...
Ok. Talked to the vet just a minute ago. She got a reply back from Dr. Legendre. He will be out of town until the 30th and won't be taking new test subjects until he gets back, so she is going to email again on the 30th. I am picking up som clavomax (however you spell it) this afternoon to...
Thanks, Marianne! I will check those links. I have gotten Dr. Legendre's email to give to my doctor. I am going to email, too, but I don't know all the technical jargon and I don't have copies of Abby's test results. It looks like your vet has to request the study for you. I am going to...
Thank you, everyone. She seems perkier today. I am praying it isn't really FIP. We won't put her down until the end is obvious. I still haven't heard any more about the drug trial. I am willing to try anything. I will ask for some Zithromax to see if that will help. She has the uveitis...
