    Force feeding cat, hopeless?

He did not vomit. To date, he has not done so. Initially the URI hid the kidney disease. Once we got the URI cleared up, the symptoms of kidney failure showed us the underlying symptoms. Now that he is getting enough fluids he acts very normal.

    Pancreatitis?

GoHolistic: (I like your name, btw) It was a full work up both times. Her liver functions were normal. Her heart is normal. Even her gallbladder is normal... the vet called the results "beautiful". Calcium levels were within normal range. Xrays showed slightly thickened intestine walls, but...

    Force feeding cat, hopeless?

He does not seem to mind the subcu fluid treatments. It's our special treat time. Sometimes he gets impatient with it but he is very well behaved. His appetite is not great but he eats more when I am with him. We had a fun romp on the floor last night. He seems cheerful. He talks constantly and...

    Force feeding cat, hopeless?

Wanted to let everyone know that Pan had a relapse of his not-eating behavior. His tests showed that his kidneys were failing. The exact nature of the damage is unknown. For right now, he is on a special renal diet and getting subcutaneous fluids once a day at home. He tolerates the fluids very...

    Pancreatitis?

She was vomiting bile Saturday and Sunday morning we took her in. The test was done on Monday. So I'm not sure if that would be during the attack or not? She is still not eating or drinking. I took her back to the vet a few hours ago. Her bloodwork was normal again except for being slightly...

    White worm in cats poop?!!!

I'm sure once he awakes he will be fine. If you notice that he is foaming at the mouth, vomiting, or acting funny, I would go back to keeping him from scratching. An easy solution is a thick ribbon or collar put around his neck, over the application site, but if he wiggled and it got a little...

    Pancreatitis?

Thank you all. The tests came back and pancreas function was normal! Our vet thinks it is NOT pancreatitis! So now we are again without a lead!

Need insight into my cats behavior

If play sessions are helping, please continue them. Ignoring her would likely only encourage more unpleasant actions. Think of a person who does not know your language: first they try acting out the idea, then they become frustrated and start being aggressive. Using the box to attract her to the...

    White worm in cats poop?!!!

I would wipe his paw, just to make sure, but it's pretty unlikely that he will get sick or foamy from scratching at the gel. Definitely watch the site, though. The skin where the gel was applied might get irritated.

Indoor Cats. . . To put them out or not?

You might find your boyfriend is more amenable to the arrangement if you show him some statistics. There are a lot of reasons to keep your cats in: Outdoor cats statistically have 1/3 the life span of indoor cats. That means your 9 year old might make it to 12 inside, whereas outside he would...

    Pancreatitis?

I thought I'd go a little longer without a huge vet bill, but hello all... Our oldest cat Ane, 9 years, spayed female Siamese was sick Saturday morning. She was vomiting bile, lethargic, and had no appetite. She vomited in bed and then hid in the closet. I thought she was just embarrassed so I...

My cats favorite canned food is.......

Oh man, where to begin... My five indoor only cats eat Wellness, in a flavor rotation. The oldest (10) gets Wilderness Blue toppings or CatSip (I know... I know...) at next meal as a topper if she skips a meal. My barn cats get a mix of "whatever is cheap" in canned food, such as whiskas, meow...

Frustrated! Peeing Cat!! In Desperate need of Help!

My apologies. I was referring to BonitaBaby's post, saying that a hose might be difficult to find and that the bathtub might be used instead. I have worked with some plumbing issues from tenants who cleaned litter pans (cat, bird, rabbit, and rat) in sinks and toilets. Unfortunately, it can...

Frustrated! Peeing Cat!! In Desperate need of Help!

Please don't use the bath tub. The litter will clog the drain. Even flushable litter is not meant for bath tub or sink drains. I realize the deep litter might work for others, but I have found my cats prefer less litter. I keep mine no deeper than 2 inches. It does require more frequent box...
