cleaning after cat passed of FIP

Hey there, My cat passed of FIP December 1. I have a large cat post that I wanted to donate in memory of him since he was a rescue to a shelter. One shelter did not want to take it just incase since their shelter had a large epidemic of FIP kittens. This other shelter will take it. From my...

Declawed Cat vs. 1 year old semi-feral

Hey all! I figured this belonged in the multi-cat household forum, but I wasn't able to start a thread there. Also, cat health is a issue as well.  So, I just moved to a new house with my 1 year old orange tabby, Garfunk. I rescued him from the streets when he was about 6 months old. He was...

    Cat has eye infection

I actually have an eye ointment called erythromycin. I dont know what clavamox is, the doc never prescribed it for his flare ups. Just the erythromycin. I know he's going to have the herpes forever (or the clymitia the doc didn't exactly know), do you just mean clavamox is good for the flare ups?

    Cat has eye infection

Can I use aquaphor on the area right by the eye, where I have been clearing away the gook? I just don't like to resort to the antibiotic (terrmycin) every time it happens, as I was told by vet I have to put on eye twice a day for 7 days even if It clears after the first day. I don't have the eye...

Confused Cat Feeder - striving for bio-appropriate diet

Wow Thank you all! I will definitely look into those brands. I never ordered food from online before, but it seems like a great alternative than going to the petco near me, not being able to find what i'm looking for, and I find that the higher grade food is cheaper online anyway. (chewy.com) I...

Confused Cat Feeder - striving for bio-appropriate diet

Yes I have seen dogs go crazy for those! lol But that does make sense. Although I don't think there are bones in wet foods yet.. I will work my way towards a raw diet which will include those and definitely focus on those kinds of wets food, high meat, low carbs till then. Thanks for breaking...

Confused Cat Feeder - striving for bio-appropriate diet

Okay okay. I was reading through another thread and thought that one of them said it was okay to feed some raw chicken, but that makes sense if it's not balanced. Dr. Karen Becker, if you google her shes an animal nutritionist that is kind of exposing alot of the issues of pet food companies...

Confused Cat Feeder - striving for bio-appropriate diet

I'd also be willing to incorporate some pre-made commercial raw food, or commercial freeze dried if any one had affordable reliable brand recommendations for that, if that would be a better choice to add in with less expensive cans. There are just so many out there. Stella's freeze dried seems...

Confused Cat Feeder - striving for bio-appropriate diet

So, I have been doing alot of research and I want to transition my cat to a raw diet. Right now is not the best time to do it because I'm going to be moving soon. So, I am only feeding wet food, approved by AAFCO, making sure first ingredient is whole meat , and then 4-5 ingredients after that...

semi-feral 6-8month kitten obsessing over human food.

Thank you for the post. Sorry it took me a while to respond. I am definitely more understanding of it now. Leaving dry food out though, I was told free feeding isn't the best option for cats, as with routine feeding you can train them so much more. But I suppose a bit of dry in the bowl isn't...

semi-feral 6-8month kitten obsessing over human food.

My kitten is becoming 'dog-like' when it comes to human food. Whenever someone is eating, he runs to that place and sits there, or walks toward the plate. I never let him eat my food. I give him chicken sometimes during a separate time than when i am eating. I know it has to do with the fact...

about 7-9 month old semi-feral kitten, scratching issue.

Thanks so much for that. It was a needed reminder, especially about his play-time habits. Sometimes it does seem particularly agressive, like not playing, but I can understand thats how cats would communicate to eachother to tell one another to stop. I will certainly look into those and start...

about 7-9 month old semi-feral kitten, scratching issue.

Hello all!  About two months ago I took in a semi-feral 6month old kitten. The vet wasn't TOO sure of age, but wasn't a kitten-kitten but definitely not 1 years old. I am having a scratching issue. He has adjusted pretty well to indoor lifestyle. No problem with litter box. Eats well. Gets...
