I have the shocking issue as well with our kitty.. Everytime I touch him just about, I get shocked.. It usually happens most when scritching his face. I think we'll look into the humidifier as well at some point!

I think based on how your roomie acts, he or she seems to have a strange way of showing love and care for the kitty.. I would say that if you can, sneak the kitten off to the vet to have the basics taken care of, at the very least? The roommate probably won't even notice I bet.
