Hi-
This happened to my cat Jill almost two years ago. They would up doing a fine needle aspirate of the lump and it did turn out to be cancer (osteosarcome, bone cancer). The lump was on her toe actually and she wound up having her toe amputated. However six months later the cancer spread...
Hi-
I would get a second opinion for sure, but I can tell you from what I know about bone cancer, it can cause the bone to break VERY easily. My cat was diagnosed with bone cancer in June 2012 in her toe. Her toe was completely destroyed. Her leg was subsequently amputated in December 2012...
Hi! My Jill went through chemo last year for osteosarcoma after having her leg amputated. Four rounds of IV chemo, 2 rounds of carboplatin, 2 rounds of doxorubicin each 3 weeks apart. She handled it like a champ. You barely knew she was having any treatment at all. The only side effects...
Hi-
Yes, currently Leukeran prices have skyrocketed unfortunately :(
I looked into a few options when I had to put my Jill on it to treat her Osteosarcoma metronomically........., Diamondback was definitely one of the cheaper ones, Roadrunner can do a liquid one for cheap and also Apex...
Thank you for sharing your story, that's amazing that he survived for two years! What a fighter! Jill is now almost one year post amputation, 7 months post chemo treatments and doing wonderfully. She has her one year check up in a few weeks and hopefully there will be no sign of any spread to...
Hi there,
My Kitty Jill has (had?) osteosarcoma. She had her leg amputated 9 months ago followed by 4 rounds of IV chemo and then a very low dose of leukeran. She did extraordinarily well on the IV, however, she lots a lot of weight on the leukeran. It doesn't sounds like your kitty has...

Thanks! She definitely doesn't have a loss of appetite right now. Again, she is only on 1mg, when the usual dose is 2mg, so I will continue to monitor her. I just get nervous that the lethargy could be a sign of something else since she is fighting cancer!
Hi All,
My 8 year old kitty Jill is 6 months post amputation of her right hind leg and finished IV chemo 12 weeks ago for osteosarcoma. So far she is doing GREAT. All her lung x-rays are all clear.
To give her an extra shot at living a long life, her oncologist suggested we do metronomic...
Hello!
I say you go for it - is it VAS (vaccine associates sarcoma)? If so, I would like to point you to the VAS Cats Yahoo group, which I am a member of:

Can they do a fine needle aspirate? That is what they did for Jill's tumor before doing the biopsy. It would show if there are any suspicious, possibly cancerous cells.
Hello!
I am sorry I am just seeing your post now.
My kitty Jill (she is 8 years old) had her leg amputated 5 months ago (due to bone cancer) and is doing AMAZING. Honestly you would never believe how well they do. The recovery is a little rough but you get through it and then they are...
Thanks for your reply! The sample was taken via cystocentesis for both the urinalysis and culture/sensitivity. I should note, the culture is not complete yet, these were preliminary results we got yesterday (sample was taken on Thursday).
Hi Everyone,
My Jill is six weeks post her chemotherapy treatment for osteosarcoma (bone cancer) and has been doing wonderful - no side effects throughout the entire treatment, with the exception of low white blood cells after two sessions.
On Thursday of last week, I woke up to find her...
Ok! I am from Long Island (Oceanside) but my parents live in Plainview now - I have heard good things about the surgeon at Long Island Veterinary Specialists in Plainview.
As for costs, Jill's leg amputation cost around 1900$ and that was with a 3 night stay at the vet. Please let me know if...
