    Nasal Polyps

It's been a while since you wrote your post about possible nasal polyps. What happened with your cat concerning this issue? I have a cat with feline herpes virus. I got her, and her litter mate, from the Humane Society. They both had the virus when I got them in 2001. They were a year old then...

Comment by 'jill-e' in article 'Seven Rare Cat Breeds You May Not Know'

Of all the ones listed here, I know only of the Serengeti. If I were to ever get a purebred cat, I think I'd go for one of them, or maybe a Sokoke. I'm not interested in hairless cats... they remind me too much of rats, and I can't understand how they'd keep warm.

Brother and sister cat started fighting, don't know why or what to do

I never found Feliway worked for calming any of my cats. I used it for a few years and found it a total waste of money. Most of my cats are fixed before I take them home, as most have come from shelters that do it. The only cats that weren't from shelters, such as those I got free out of ads...

Brother and sister cat started fighting, don't know why or what to do

While talking to my aunt recently, who is 87 and mostly chair bound too, due to bad knees, she told me her sister and brother cats were also doing the fighting thing, which they had never done before. It started when they were around 2 years old as well, with the female starting the fights most...

Older cat losing weight, does not seem to be eating enough

@DonnaJean - Thanks for the comments. You really didn't tell me anything I didn't already know. I've had 11 cats in my life and several of them have had CKD. None with IBD, luckily. Many years ago, I had a cat with bone cancer. I did a ton of research on every cat food back then. What I found...

Older cat losing weight, does not seem to be eating enough

Thanks so much for your comments. Tibby only eats Organix canned Turkey with Spinach and is doing much better now. I checked out the food list on Tanya's Feline CKD website and found very few of the varieties listed would entice her to eat. Some of them caused her BUN levels to rise and then...

    Is Marijuana Toxic to Cats?

From personal experience, it's very likely your cat would be drugged by eating it, or rolling in it and then licking itself, but likely it wouldn't ingest enough to kill him/her. The intoxication would wear off eventually too. It could just be hemp and not a higher THC strain growing in the...

Older cat losing weight, does not seem to be eating enough

Tibby is playing though more tonight than she has the last 3 days. Feathers on a string, her favorite toy, got her moving quite a bit.

Older cat losing weight, does not seem to be eating enough

After having my 14 year old cat Angie euthanized last week, my other cat, Tibby, has taken a slight turn for the worse. The two cats weren't all that fond of each other the past 10 years, but tolerated each other. I don't think Tibby really cares one iota that Angie isn't here anymore. No...

Thank you for all your kind words. We all have to make necessary choices at times. :angel3:

Older cat losing weight, does not seem to be eating enough

Bad news for my Angie. Just before I left town in late April 2014, she took a turn for the worse. I rushed her into the vet the day before I had to leave. Three days later, the results were back. Lymphoma and leukemia were confirmed. These were both suspected in early 2013, but now we know for...

    my vet recommended Pepcid AC

Oops. I guess I was thinking the AC was the Complete formula. Not that I ever gave the Complete or chewable ones. I actually just bought the store brand. However, my little cat, Angie, who took the antacid on and off for a few years, can no longer take any meds. She was just diagnosed with...

    my vet recommended Pepcid AC

Regular Pepcid is what vets recommend, NOT the AC variety (Pepcid Complete). The AC formula has other things in it not recommended for cats. I give this to one of my cats when she vomits often, especially vomiting white foam and bile before breakfast is even given. I stopped giving it for...

    Three senior cats with IBD

Slippery Elm also helps with acidic stomach, I've found. I give 1 ml. twice a day to my kitties, about an hour or two after meds. Antibiotics should be given just before or with food to avoid stomach upset (I found this works great), even if it doesn't say so, unless it especially saids not to...

Older cat losing weight, does not seem to be eating enough

Well, after the recheck last week, my littlest girl kitty had to go back on Orbax once again. The vet cultured her urine and found e.coli still there. Seems she wasn't on the Orbax for long enough or at a high enough dose (different vet but same practice had prescribed it the last time). The vet...
