    Cat allergy question

Our cat has developed a skin allergy recently, & we're unsure of the cause. The vet has put him on prednisolone, which he has been on for 2 weeks now, he's been down to half a tablet a day this week, & the allergy started to reappear yesterday. We took him back to the vets today & she...

He doesn't want us to go out!

Max has a habit of curling up on our clothes to try & stop us from leaving him, I don't know if this is normal cat behaviour but it's quite cute! This was him earlier today.

    Poor Max

We tried to discourage him from jumping the jump initially, but obviously to no avail. It's second nature to him now, he even jumps directly down from the highest one!

    Poor Max

He seems to have a recurring problem with one of his eyes. I'm not sure if he gets dust or grit in it, but one of them is regularly weeping , causing him to scratch it. He's lost some fur above his right eye as you can see from the picture. If it gets any worse we'll obviously need to make a...

Help, do we get another cat??

Another thing, I've noticed on various websites that it's recommended to keep the new cat in a "safe room" for a week or so. This would be a problem, as we only have a very small place, which Max has the run of, & if for any reason he was excluded from a room he'd not be a happy boy!

Help, do we get another cat??

Thanks for your replies. Obviously our biggest concern is whether Max would accept another cat in his life, as he's been an only cat for almost four years. How he'd react to another cat in his territory,& not receiving all our attention. We were also very lucky with litter training Max, as he...

Help, do we get another cat??

We've got a soon to be 4 year old moggy Max, who's been an indoor cat all his life. We've seen an advertisement for a kitten which sounds very similar to him(in appearance obviously), and were thinking of viewing him/her. Would we be doing the right thing in getting a companion for Max, or...

    Introducing a new kitten?

We've had our 3 year old moggy Max since he was a kitten, but think maybe the time is right for him to have a companion. He's an indoor cat, who gets plenty of attention, but spends a fair amount of time alone whilst we're at work. We just feel it would be fun for him to have a playmate, but are...

    Holiday cats(long thread)

Just back from The Algarve, and there were 4 cats that seemed to live around the hotel. Unfortunately the poor things(1 in particular) were so underfed, to the extent you could see their ribs. There were 2 in particular that you'd alamost always see together, the one in the photograph and a poor...

Planning a holiday, will cat be ok??

Thanks for your replies, I'm sure he'll adjust, probably by sleeping more. I'll try not to worry too much!

Planning a holiday, will cat be ok??

He's never been left on his own for more than one night before. We've got 2 different people coming in twice a day to feed him & change his litter, and we invested in a couple of night lights, so we're doing all we can, but he's just not used to being left on his own overnight. Fingers crossed...

    Digging?

Max has a habit of digging around his food tray either after he's finished eating, or when we put his food out. Does these mean he's "burying" it, and will come back later, as he also does the same thing around his food tray after he's done his business in his litter tray?

    Water fountain?

Thanks for all your replies. We're going to the Algarve, looking forward to it, but not looking forward to leaving kitty, as he's never been left on his own for more than one night before.

    Water fountain?

We're only away for a week, & have someone coming in twice a day to feed and change litter tray.
